    Attending a car school. [should i or shouldn't i]

Any technical job is better than what I see most unskilled 19-year olds doing like pizza delivery, McDonalds, stockboy, oil change, busboy, cashier, etc. Get something good now and figure out the rest later. The years will fly by now that you are out of high school. Whatever you do, DO NOT...

    Catback problems

Those MAC cat-backs are not the best fitting esp. if you lower it. Mine was fine until I lowered it and went over bumps or cornered. I got some adjustment with the flanges.

    PI Intake/Cam install problem

My bad. First off switch to a PI gasket that way you are almost gauranteed a leak free fit for the intake manifold. You are making a mess with those NPI gaskets. I used adapter plates and both sets of gaskets, but those plates aren't available anymore.

EGR tube removal - how and why?

 I know, that is why I said "literaly welded". That threaded connection just bonds itself together.

    picked up a new stang

Welcome and congrats. My stang is almost identical to yours except I have satin aluminum split-spokes. That is a clean ride and that is not a bad price for a vert. Another nice thing is mods are fairly cheap for these beasts and a lot of parts from the newer 99+ GT's, Cobras and Mach 1's will...

    PI Intake/Cam install problem

Did you install the rockers and then torque the cam caps? You really should have torqued the caps first then installed the rockers. Did you torque to 71-106 in-lbs.? If the plugs are black on one side you have ignition/fuel problems. You don't need new plugs since these are tough and can go...

EGR tube removal - how and why?

Do not try to unscrew the EGR tube, it is literaly welded on. Just remove the two bolts holding the whole assembly from the side of the plenum. When you install the manifold just move the tube assembly around. You can even re-use the old gasket just use a high-temp sealant. Like I said in...

    PI Intake/Cam install problem

I did the exact swap you did and everything came out right. My question is how did you re-install the rockers? Those rockers should be installed AFTER the caps are torqued down, otherwise the torque readings will be lower due to the lifters pushing up. What did you torque the cam caps to...

    4.6 go fast mods

So true. I have a 97 4X4 F150 short cab/flareside, 4.6/5 spd. I love the truck but it is HEAVY. I couldn't imagine this thing with an automatic. You need a lot of low-end torque (unlike a lighter Stang) to move that beast around quickly and the 4.6 isn't known for low-end torque. I doubt...

    any plumbers on here?

There are all kinds of shower faucets out there. Some actually have replaceable inserts that you purchase. I know about these things since I've owned a few rentals. Post a pic of the valves or faucet handles if the other fix doesn't work. That way I can determine what sort of repair it requires.

    Lincoln Mk VIII block

I have an opportunity to purchase an engine from a 98 Lincoln Mk VIII. My question is whether I can use the block and crank for a SOHC buildup. I think the block is aluminum but I am not sure. Is the crank forged or cast? Any input appreciated.

    Emmison Question

You should get a pre-test when you smog your stang. That way if your car fails smog it won't come up as a "gross polluter" and require annual inspections. If you have stock cats, you may pass smog. Make sure your CAI and other obvious mods have CARB #'s.

Vert owners... If you could pick a cloth top or vinyl what and why?

I will be replacing my top soon. I will probably go with the original vinyl unless I find a good-looking, durable, water-proof cloth. I just don't need any water intrusion issues and the tan vinyl top is durable and easy to clean.

    PI Cam Part Numbers

The way I figured out left or right PI cams was I looked at the NPI cams when I removed them and compared the lobe locations and matched them accordingly to the PI cams. The PI cams you have with the pressed on gears will require you to remove the front cam cover, crank gear and chain from the...
