HP limit for the 8" Rear End

Nitrous and slicks do not get along with 8" rears. Saying that, I have MANY runs in the 11's on my 8" rear. A best of 11.47 this past weekend. But I am running drag radials, 3.55 gears, and an automatic. So it will not be nearly as harsh as a similarly built stick car on slicks.

New best on the new Atl. Dragway blacktop!

mrmustangman357: I do need the side bars that run to the front floor beside the seat to be legal. I had a 6 pt. in my old '89 Convert that had removable door bars. Very nice for a street car. classic boost: Your bar does fit nicely in there.:nice: I like the removable harness bar too...

New best on the new Atl. Dragway blacktop!

I have read about cars actually picking up at the strip and being much more consistent after putting in a rollbar. 10secgoal and classic boost: What roll bars are you guys using? Are they chrome moly? Where did you get them? Just weighing my options now. Thanks...

New best on the new Atl. Dragway blacktop!

Thanks guys!! This car is fun as hell now but man it can suck up some gas when I put my foot into it. Thanks clasic boost. That's exactly what I needed.

New best on the new Atl. Dragway blacktop!

Yeah, my 60 foot is still not good but it sure beats the 1.8's that I have been used to seeing. I didn't get a video of this run. The last video I have is when I ran a 12.01 about a year and a half ago. That was also about 7 mph ago as well. Which is a huge hp increase due to new shortblock...

New best on the new Atl. Dragway blacktop!

Yesterday was a beautiful day in the Atl. Over the winter the dragstrip has been totally resurfaced and it was very sticky and very smooth. Yesterday being opening day, we were the very first ones to try it out. My car normally runs somewhere in the 11.8's with a best all time mph of 115...

Infiniti wants to race me...what do you think?

If these are the car's true numbers then it is not close to stock and you will lose the race. But, I have seen some early Mustangs with similar builds as yours: stock heads, mild cam (maybe but do not know the specs) etc... run 15's at the track. While others (my friend ga289stocker on...

    Comp Cam XE268H

I used to run that cam in a 302 in my '66 Mustang. I loved the sound of it and I thought it worked great. :nice: The car ran 13.2's all day long with Trick Flow heads (with wrong valve springs!), low compression dished pistons, RPM intake, 650 carb, hooker headers, flowmasters, C4 with 3.55...

    275 Drag radial update

235/60's will fit without a problem if the wheels have the correct backspacing. I have hit a best of 1.69 60 foot and lots of 11.8's on them. I'm hoping to go a bit quicker this year. If you are not using nitrous and only want to run into the mid-high 11's, the 235 MT should work fine.

My Mustang will be in April's Popular Hot Rodding Magazine!

    about 2grand to spend

I got my 185's on ebay a few years ago. A year before that I bought a set of Twisted Wedge heads with upgraded springs that came with a set of 1.6 aluminum roller rockers for $800. Deals can be had there if you don't get into a bidding war. BTW....Twisted Wedge heads are awesome sbf...

I just noticed you didn't mention gears in your sig. If they are stock 2.79's then they HAVE to be changed. I'd go with at least a 3.80 for your 289. Substitute the carb swap for gears and you will still be close to 2 grand IF you can be frugal and find used and good deal parts. Good luck!

    about 2grand to spend

Since your short block is refreshed: AFR165's (used around $1000......I picked up my 185's for $900) Edelbrock RPM Air Gap or Weiand Stealth (I got my used Vic. Jr for $100) Custom solid flat tappet cam and lifters(~$230-250) Good 1.6 roller rockers(~$200) Hooker Comp headers(mine were...

    New "KNIGHT RIDER" article

The new KITT has a very quick 0-60 of just 1.7 seconds and hits the quarter mile mark only 2 seconds later. It sounds quick and dangerous and almost unbelievable. And it is, lol, but it is still nothing compared to the braking of the car. 300-0 in 12 feet:eek: Those g forces would send your eye...

    Thoughts on Demon carb?

I would also like to know more about this 347 with a 650 carb that is street driven that makes over 650 to the ground without N2O.:jaw:

    Thoughts on Demon carb?

I've been very happy with my 650 vacuum Demon on my 347. It worked great on my old 306 as well as my current 347. All I have done to it is jetted up a few sizes and put in a lighter secondary spring. I also have a Mighty Demon 750 on the shelf at home to try out next racing season. :nice: Can't...

    66' mustang

Once you have performed all the mods that fasttback has stated, then your air cleaner will be sitting too high. You must then find or fab up an air cleaner bypass kit. :D Seriously though, welcome jnatj14! If your engine does have the Performer 289 intake then you have either a 289 or 302...

    First E.T.'s with new 347

Way to get out there and run it coolblue!! You've gotta get some race tires. Drag radials at a minimum will get you easy 12's.:nice: I have run as quick as 12.01 with your mph.
