Help with elec. fuel pressure gauge

Yes, I have confirmed that it is grounded, I should have mentioned that in original comments. Used the adapter that came with unit to mount to schrader valve. I'm starting to think the gauge actually is bad! Now does the sending unit turn the pressure it sees into some kind of measurement in...

Help with elec. fuel pressure gauge

Ok, installaed new electric fuel pressure gauge. Gauge reads about 14 psi. Just sits there, no movement. Goes to 0 with power off. Goes to 100 psi if I remove the sending unit wire, goes to 0 if I remove the ground wire. This would seem the gauge is working. I'm on my second sending unit from...

    turbo question

Never heard of a, properly functioning turbo, letting oil into the motor by design. I know diesels hold alot of oil, but by letting the turbos burn the oil in the exhaust side or letting the motor ingest the oil on the pressure side, would'nt this cause the motor to run low on oil? At least...

    Stock Rods

No it would'nt be the worst thing in the world at all. As long as they are in good shape. Good bearings and good fasteners, they can handle decent power levels.

    5.0 Twin Turbo Kit

Go to turbomustangs.com and do a search there. They think ssautochrome sucks.

Still around, don't post much though. Mostly just read for fun. Usually answer any questions I may have with a search.

    Hitch for my GT

no problem towing a small trailer. If concerned, put a tranny cooler on the car, should have one anyway. If I'm not mistaken, fox body cars were rated to 2000 pounds. If you get in a hilly area and it starts downshifting alot, put it in a lower gear. This will keep tranny temps down. Just...

    190 LPH fuel pump

I hope you were kidding when you told him to stick it in a bucket of gasoline and "spark it up". You just explained the perfect scenario for burning your face off! Hook it up to a 12 volt source for a couple of seconds,(submerged in nothing!) this won't hurt it. If it turns on it's probably ok.

    Lx Foxbody(Intercooler)

Millhouse, I was just looking at your pics from that post. I agree with your statement of the downpipes being a pita. No room. Looks like you have some nice headers. I sourced mine from a 91 lincoln town car. Flipped em' and cut the collectors off and welded on a custom made flange. My turbos...

    typoohn intake good/bad?

Like mine, did have to clean up the ports (seems to be the norm). Not hard to install. $200.00 might be a little high. A mechanic could probably do this swap in a couple hours. I don't know, I guess 200 isn't that bad.

    Turbo kits?

Absolutely agree with Millhouse, I know just the kits he's talking about. Junk! Turbomustangs.com has a great link to many kits including feedback on the vendors themselves. I used the junkyard section to build my own kit.

    turbo, What cam?

Certainly not an expert, but do watch out for too much overlap. A little extra duration in exhaust side can't hurt, seeing how turbos are drivin by the exhaust. I'm probably gonna get rid of my TF stage 1 and get a custom cam someday. Had the trick flow cam in back when I was naturally...

Is it safe to run 20W50 in my LX

Just a guess, if it's still fresh from the rebuild, the rings my not have set. Don't know much about those low tension rings though. I do know some newly rebuilt engines will burn some oil. In your case I have my doubts about my theory.

    kennybell vs vortec

Another vote for the turbo(s). Built my own kit. Probably $1500.00 wrapped up in it. Refabbing the cold side to include an intercooler this winter. Block and tranny will be on borrowed time come spring.

Anyone try E85 in their stang?

Yes, you are correct. This would really only be feasible in a boosted car, that was not your daily driver. It does actually make less horsepower, and less mpg than gasoline. The turbo guys like it for it's octane rating.

Why am I running out of breath at 4-5000rpm

Before turbo kit, I used to bounce off the rev limiter easily with same heads and trick flow stage 1 cam. Fuel injected though. Carb maybe a little too small but I doubt it, not much of an expert with carbs. Unless exhaust is like 2" pipe or something, the crappy bends should'nt be that much...

    Storing for winter

I don't know, I say change that oil. Yes, if it's parked outside it may get some condensation in it. If thats the case, go buy the cheapest oil on the shelf and put it in. Let it run for a few minutes with the new oil and shut her down for the winter. Come spring put in the good stuff and go...

    Storing for winter

Sorry, forgot in my last post, I was in the 4.6 tech. No dist. for you guys to pull is there? Next best thing, disable the ignition and let it turn over for a while without it running. This will get the oil pressure up, without the stress of actually firing/running.

    Storing for winter

I one for not starting it at all. After a couple of weeks all the oil that clings to the surfaces easily for a couple days is in the oil pan now. You are dry starting that motor in the cold with cold (thick) oil. I use fogging oil sprayed down the spark plug holes. This oil fogs the cylinder and...

Anyone try E85 in their stang?

Go to Turbomustangs.com. There is a thread over there about a guy getting almost a 1000 hp out of a turbocharged stang. Seems with a few changes, bigger fuel pump and injectors, and some tuning mustangs can run it. This thread is huge, should be able to find it with the search function. Lots of...
