    It couldn't be pulleys because the pulleys aren't connected to anything that directly makes smoke.Oil and trans.fluid have different smells,find out which one is actually leaking and go from there.

    One thing nobody has mentioned is the TPS.It uses a carbon film painted on that acts as a rheostat.If this film gets a worn spot in it it will cause the idle to go crazy and the engine to stumble when the throttle is opened to the bad spot.

    The last post almost got it.You must remove the washer under the crank bolt or it will never come off.Use plenty of RTV sealer in the crank pulley keyway or the crank pulley WILL leak oil.

    There is salt in the air no matter how far away from the ocean you live in Fl.There would be no difference in any of the things you mentioned but chrome headers will rust almost before your eyes.If you care at all about longevity get ceramic coated headers.

    Bassani mid-length headers and their X-pipe with cats is supposed to be 50 state legal.MMFF did a test and got 17.3 hp with 17.4 ft lbs of torque on a stock 02 GT.The test was for a full Bassani exhaust however.

    Look at the fuel filter also.If it's starting to plug up then it will start restricting your flow at higher RPM's first.

    Sometimes the latch will dry out and be slow to operate.Try spraying some white grease into the mechanism and see if this helps.

    Start out by re-installing the old chip and see what this does.If it's tuned for a blower it will probably run rich if you can get it started,but at least it will run.See if there are any codes that were set during the start-up attempt.

    My Bassani headers and catted X-pipe came with extensions that bolt to the stock manifolds.Don't think for a second that there weren't ???? flying out of my head untill I figured out they were for the stock manifolds. :rlaugh:

    Tranny Shifting....

    Does the shifter move out of gear when you push down on the clutch?Does it shift normally with the engine shut down?Does it only do this between certain gears?Make sure there's plenty of lube in the tranny.If the tranny shifts properly with the engine shut down,the clutch may not be releasing...

    VIN# Problem

    The 32v engines have the spark plug holes in the center of the cam covers.The 16 valve spark plugs are above the cam covers.There is a noticeable difference between the apearance of the cam covers as well.There are obviously two cam gears under the 32 valve cam covers.
