    waterpump swap

If you cannot find a 70's pointer (or you can also use a later one from a Crown Vic) there are various aftermarket pointers along with the tape you can use.

Where do I start with tuning this Holley?

Ditto. You might want to install a lighter secondary spring and a 50cc accellerator pump (depending on what intake you're running)

    waterpump swap

As the others have said, any 70-91 302 water pump will have the drivers side inlet, just stay away from the 79-up Mustang units, these are reverse rotation pumps. Most are available thru your local parts house in HP(low volume, small impeller), std volume or HV (large impeller) The HV pumps are...

    waterpump swap

All he needs then is the 70's bolt on timing pointer. This is the only one I have left out of 5 I had. Sold the others one at a time on ebay for $20 a piece.:D He'll also need to remark the balancer to time it or swap to a 70-up unit.

No, they're not turbo mufflers in the traditional sense, but they work the same. The chambers mellow out the sound waves. The longer they are, the more chambers they have and the quieter they are.

    She's My Cherry Bomb!

Look this up Classic Chambered Exhaust Inc. - Home Page I don't know if this is the same company as the one that was on ebaymotors I bought mine from (looked em up on teh bay, they're not listed now:shrug:), but the product is the same. Basically a perforated tube surrounded by a larger tube...

    She's My Cherry Bomb!

Nope, no glasspacks for me. Turbo Tubes. Guy on ebay makes and sells em. Same size as glasspacks, but they're turbo mufflers. Got a pair on the Comet.

    302 overheating???

Your timing may be off due to a slipped outer ring on the balancer. Get the #1 Piston at TDC on the firing stroke and see where the timing mark is in relation to the pointer. While I agree that 200 isn't hot, the problem can also stem from many other things as well, like backwards head gaskets.

carbs: More or less? Tell me why.....

The three two bbl setups work better everywhere in the rpm range. The one I have is three 250 cfm carbs on a 331. Throttle response and mileage are far better than with a single four. Plus it just plain looks cool. That said, no matter what size carb you put on an engine, it's only going to flow...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

But at the same time, you can pick em up(E7's) for nearly nothing. Which is what I did with a couple sets. The first I paid $50 for, spent an afternoon porting and polishing, sent them off to the machineshop for a valve job and new springs ($100 for the job done with a Serdi machine for the...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

The Cobra roller rockers are 1.7 ratio only. For what he's doing, he doens't need higher flowing heads. And E7's are far more plentiful than the pre GT40P heads.

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Your best bang for the buck is going to be a reworked set of E7's. Mill em .040 to get the chambers down to around 58 ccs. Installing screw in studs in your 67 heads is going to be a waste of money with that cam.

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Now that that's clarified, yes, your cam should be fine. (although I'd of picked the F4TE over it) What heads DO you have now ? You said you sold the E6SE's (which were completely adequate for what you're doing) Just a ported set of E7's would do fine. (just opening the exhaust sides and bowl...
