Fuel Injection on Early Model Mustangs

I took a different approach. I don't like header tanks because they are simply too much clutter under the vehicle and I don't want 2 fuel pumps because that is just one more thing to fail and leave you stranded. I prefer intank pumps because they are much quieter and are a cleaner install. I...

Debating between cable and hydraulic clutch

As far as the cables wearing out and needing maintenance....I have over 220K miles on a cable I have never touched. Do that with hydraullic. A properly set up cable is superior to a hydraulic in my opinion. I have never seen a cable break when installed properly. Let the cable touch a hot...

    Shelby Drop, tire wear?

You will only get more wear if you have it aligned improperly. You should be able to get back to 0 degrees camber and toe is easy to adjust correctly. Caster is a setting that does not affect wear. If you can't get back to 0 degrees camber then you have some issues with sagging shock towers...

    '66 coupe - rarity

Jeff, is this the car you got in College Station that Greg was telling me about?

66 + 4.6 + AC? Can you buy the underdash stuff?

I just bought the underdash kit from Vintage Air for one of my projects and provided the rest myself. They are located in San Antonio. Nice setup.

    calibrating the old speedometer

It think the white gear is 24 tooth and should be available from any Ford dealer but ones that handle FRPP would be your best bet.

289 hipo heads vs. 302 heads

The 289 heads only have one advantage and that is a smaller combustion chamber size. Other than that the 91 heads are better.

looks like I'll have to call Currie........again.

This is one reason I do all my own work. When something is amiss I fix it as I am the idiot who didn't do it right the first time and I am driving my car again the next day.

Finished the scarebird conversion, a few notes.

Th K-H units for the mustangs mount the seals in the body of the calipers though.....kind of weird that they did Corvette's differently. Corvettes are one of the few GM cars I am willing to work on and this must be where I remember the seals being in the calipers from. It has been 25 years. I...

    Anyone seen a sealed cowl?

I have seen it done before but I do not like the look and I like the vents myself. Your call.

Where to buy Ford 8" trac-lock?

Currie has them. I have only seen one in a junk yard in all my years of going and that one resides in my garage at the moment. I doubt you will find one for the $45 I paid at Pick-A-Part.

Finished the scarebird conversion, a few notes.

Simple. If the seal is on the piston, like traditional older GM calipers, the caliper itself becomes the sacrificial part when corrosion takes place. Your only option is to sleeve the caliper or get a new one. One reason GM brakes are junk. This information at least means the newer stuff is...

Finished the scarebird conversion, a few notes.

Scarebird....on the GM calipers you use are the seals on on the piston or in the caliper themselves?

Another 5.0 swap question, wiring harness

I am confused. EFI and fuel injection are the same thing. You can easily use a wiring harness out of a 89-93 but not earlier because you want MASS AIR. Get a wiring diagram for the year of the harness and one for the car it is going into and with a little patience it is easy to blend the two...

Are these Drilled Disc Rotors Any Good?

Pretty much. People simply cashing in on a fad. Even Cheverolet has yanked them off the Z06 due to the crossdrilled holes creating cracks and rotor failures. If the manufacturers can't make them safe what makes you think Jim Bob in the back of his garage is going to make you a better set?

Will the Ford Racing 5.0L one piece oil pan gaskets fit the earlier 302s?

They work fine with the Cobra oil pan on my Shelby....no ribs.

    Rack & Pinion Question

I will share it all after I have made it work. I am not going to speculate on anything until I have something that works to show you. I am confident that I can make this work in one fashion or another it is just a matter of putting time into it. This is not something that can be done at home...

    Rack & Pinion Question

Sure there is. It depends upon the design. I have a rack in hand that upon initial measurements and testing looks like it is going to provide full lock to lock steering with stock spindles and has more travel than needed with Granada spindles. I need to do some more comprehensive testing but...

    Rack & Pinion Question

I am not sure about anything but 65/66 since that is what I am working on right now to make a decent no compromise rack setup. On a 65/66 the lock to lock travel varies depending upon whether the car is lowered and how far but I have measured a range of about 6 3/4" to 7 1/8" and the more the...

    Intank fuel pump

I made my own. It allowed me to address all the issues I thought to be important. I can even change a pump on the side of the road with a full tank of gas. You can view the pictures here if you like: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/hertzshelby66/album?.dir=/6fdb&.src=ph&.tok=phYm7.EBlhxs1kvG
