    changing struts/shocks

To get the nut off the top strut, just drive the car to a local shop and have them loosen it for you with an impact gun, then drive home slowly! Then take a vice grip and reach up and clamp the strut and now you will be able to take the nut off the rest of the way. Make sure the new strut has a...

    347 dyno numbers low?

Was the rotating assy balanced? If it was balanced properly, the engine builder should have asked for the balancer and flywheel, which are required to balance the setup properly. If it has not been balanced, and just put together, even with the 28oz balancer, your engine will not last long, and...

Setting up rockers / valve lash (yeah another one lol)

Is your timing set close enough to get it to fire? I would make sure you are at TDC on #1 and have the dizzy dropped in right - make sure you are not 180 off.

    fuel pressure not holding!

Don't sweat it - the Walbro 255lph pumps do not hold pressure when the pump stops. At least mine doesn't. I thought mine was screwed up when it did the same - but I was told to just go ahead and start it up. Fire it up and it will run fine.

    New Clutch Possible Problem

Spec stage 2 is a great clutch IMHO - very streetable and supposedly good up to 500 rwtq. Stage 3 as others have said doesn't have great street manners.

In the middle of my h/c/i swap, in need of some confidence.....

subscribing!!! I want to hear how it all turns out when you fire that puppy up for the first time. I have done three HCI builds, and was crossing my fingers each time I fired it up for the first time.

How long am I in for?

Let us know how long it takes you! Since you are asking, I'm guessing you haven't done this type of work before so I would guess it will take a weekend if you take your time and make sure you do it right. Good luck!

How do u use a torque wrench?

You are still not quite grasping this - the adapter he is referring to in your quote above, is as follows - he has taken a breaker bar, and added a pipe to extend the handle of the breaker bar. Then he has welded onto that extension a socket into which the end of the torque wrench goes - this...

How do u use a torque wrench?

You really need to read the top part of that website. What the guy is actually talking about is using a torque wrench plus an adapter that lengthens the handle of the torque wrench so he can torque bolts that have torque requirements that exceed the wrench that he has. Then your formula is...

How do u use a torque wrench?

You might want to check your math on that.. Torque = Distance to center x force - doesn't matter how long the extension on the end of the wrench is, so long as its kept perpendicular to the bolt - once that changes, then your torque values will be off. If you end up at an angle to the bolt...

How do u use a torque wrench?

btw - when you hear the click - stop turning! The wrench will continue to tighten the bolt if you keep turning it. The click just indicates you have reached the desired torque setting. It doesn't mean that you can't torque tighter if you keep turning the wrench. Some wrenches have better clicks...

    Stock Suspension Help

You might want to consider B springs - they have a much milder drop - I have Bilsteins with B springs and am real happy with it - drops it about 1" from stock. EIbach's drop it too much IMHO

Time to pu the Timing Chain Cover back on, I need some help!!!

The crank seal is a metal ring with a rubber seal around the inside of it. If you are reusing the old timing chain cover, you will need to knock the old seal out, and put a new one in. You can use a pipe the same size as the seal, and rest the cover on two 2x4s and whack it out using the pipe...

    Which speedo gear?

Hey Michael, if you like that one, here's another one - my dixie wrecked!! Hint: say it out loud without emphasizing any syllables - even better - say it to your wife and see what she says!! Hey - I just saw you are from Knoxville TN - spent at year at UT and lived out...

    Which speedo gear?

From the site Michael recommended, you would need a 6 tooth drive gear in the tranny, and a pink 19 tooth driven gear in the cable - that will put you exactly right for 3.90s which is what I think you are asking. One question - what is in it right now - is the speedo just way off?

    Which speedo gear?

I just put in a 6 tooth black driver gear and a yellow 18T driven gear - this was for my 3.73 gears - originally I tried a 23 tooth white gear on the 8 tooth drive gear and it just ripped it to shreds. If the tranny out, its a fairly simple matter of removing the rear end part of the tranny, and...
