    Eliminating the Distributor?

Yup, still here, we're making good progress with the car, have decided not to bother with the 5.0 and are in the process of sourcing a 5.4 instead, just need a decent transmission to bolt up to it and it's all go. Have met a local guy who can laser cut just about anything out of steel, so...

Welder claims he can't weld rollbar ??? fumes too bad?

+1 It's just about the first thing you get taught when learning to weld, that both surfaces should be completely clean of contaminants, and if he isin't using basic safety gear, well, he deserves to black out and bash his head on whatever he's welding...

IS there a way to view air intake temps?

The hardware is quite easy to make actually, about $3 worth of bits, have them in front of me actually, the difficult bit is sussing out the appropriate codes to extract a response from the ecu, OBD-I systems generally use one form or another of ALDL, a serial communications protocol, basicly...

I shouldnt make potassium nitrate smoke bombs OR I almost burned my buddys house down

ok, if it's turning brown, there's still too much heat, it's the sugar burning. Next, use sparklers for fuses, much easier to work with, and ignites it much better. Last, if you're too lazy to wait round in front of a stove, you can use icing sugar mixed dry with the potash + sparkler fuse...

IS there a way to view air intake temps?

As above, just use a Multimeter, after all, it's not the actual temp you need to know, just how much it changes from what measures as the norm.

    Tokyo Drift

The F&F movies are a must-see for the local car club I'm in, we already know it's a large part BS, but that makes it all the more enjoyable, traditionally I take my Bike to the theatre, means I can get in and out quickly, avoiding the dickheads in the carpark, plus if any of them have mad street...

Would you guys put these on your cars?

I can't wait for the wave of complaint from people who buy these and suddenly find their brakes fading from heat after a couple of hard stops.

Is there really a 'better' set of wires for our cars?

Not quite, I'm saying that the factory wires are more than ample to provide a good spark for applications up to and beyond what even the block can handle. I have a history of building small turbo engines, mostly 2.0L Mitsubishi 4g63t's (You have them in your USDM Eclipses/Talons/etc) on a...

Is there really a 'better' set of wires for our cars?

Asthetics aside, aftermarket wires for low-compression NA cars have no point.

    Stock block power #'s

There are rules to live by when making big power, and one of them involves not using a 37 year old block as a base. What would the point be on gambling a whole stack of pricy bolt-ons on a old block when you can spend a small amount extra and have a solid foundation.

    Understanding Timing

Well, it was originally set at 0 degree's - shouldn't that have made the car quicker since it was advancing 10 degree's beyond where it should have been?

    Understanding Timing

ok, following a discussion regarding the meaning of TDC,BTDC, etc, I have a question regarding my timing, when we checked it last weekend, it was set to 0 degree's (Green dot in my picture) on the balancer. Now it was originally my understanding that this meant the timing was retarded 10...

Why is my buddy running such slow times

+1 He needs to learn that racing isin't just about punching the gas and side-stepping the clutch. His incrementals are all in line with a high 12 once he gets his launching sorted.

    Water in the pipes

Whilst H2O is indeed present in exhaust gas, the water he's seeing is not from the combustion process, it's condensation that has built up whilst the exhaust itself has been cooling down from the night before.
