Yeah that old gas had did a number on the plugs. Carb rebuild went easy and and the idle changed as soon as i put it back on. As soon as i cleaned the plugs the vibration went a way. I am not expecting much out of the motor for now just to cruise around in. Hopefully a new 4 barrel and intake...

Ive been using the Gumout brand carb and choke cleaner. It has super jet pressure and when you spray it it blasts all of the varnish away. When i pulled it out this morning it looked brand new. Im going to let it soak a while longer and give it once over with some wires.

Update Carb is in pieces and soaking. I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult than it was. Accell pump diaphram is good but im replacing anyway due to ripping it when i took it out. The little passages and main jets were pretty cruddy along with the metering rods. I actually had fun...

Yeah i called the local autozone and they have it 11.99 i think. I used to be in a club back in the day with my GT, it was fun and met a lot of cool people. Then politics and egos took over and the club fell apart, which was really sad cuz i enjoyed talking to people about stangs and racing on...

I don't disagree that it is a carb problem, i pretty sure that it is. I just wanted to do a thorough process of elimination. I will start on the rebuild tonight and grab some more plugs.

In all of my stangs they have had T5's and i wanted a old fastback with a toploader but i could not turn this car down. It really is in nice shape and the price was low so jumped on it. I think i can covert for $ 500 or less being that i already have the T5. But i gotta get the little 289...

Thanks for the feedback and i will start with the carb and go from there, im sure im going to be on here a lot. The only carbs i have any experience with are on my Raptor atv. The car came with the original Ford shop manual and a Chiltons so i can see all of the little parts of the carb if i...
