    165 Afr's on a 351?

I think that'd make a great street combo. I'm sure you know that 165's are mostly intended for 302's but the extra cubes will make the most of that flow at lower rpm's. For street and autocross I think you'll find these or 185's make a nice setup. If you decide to go for HP and drag strip duty...

    shock absorber selection

5-leafs will be pretty stiff, I run the 620's up front with 4.5 mid eyes out back and KYB's all around. I found the ride to be pretty well on the stiff side, though not uncomfortable by any means. The handling is pretty good. Smaller bumps seem to get absorbed much more gracefully, as 65Shelby...

    Instrument lights non-op...

Everything but the lights work properly and flawlessly. The lights won't come on at first unless I rev it, then they stay on until I turn them off, even at idle (though notably and excessively dimmer at idle). Alt is rebuilt and stock, but puts out strong voltage at idle, around 13,5ish if...

What temperature is considered over heating?

I concur on the boiling over. I've run mine hard (70mph, trying to catch a train) with the needle pointing over 3/4 of the way up with no ill effects but a little (ok, a lot of) anxiety on my part.

    Instrument lights non-op...

Damn thing's still giving me trouble. Instrument lights quit working again for the last 18+ months, and I put it to the back of my mind...until I pulled my flasher to replace. Pulled on the right wire, I guess. Once again, the cluster lights work...after I put some revs on the engine. This is...

67 mustang carb and int question

An Edelbrock Performer 289 intake is a great starting point, though if you're upgrading further a Performer RPM intake isn't a bad way to go. I run the Performer 289 with a Carter (Edelbrock) 600cfm carb with great driveability, response, and power, and am averaging 17,9mpg over the last two...

    Carburetor

True dat. I run about double what it suggests in my 600cfm with absolutely no driveability issues, plenty of power and response and averaging over 17mpg

What is the optimum operating temperature for engine?

You're good :) cold engine, cold air, hot oil. A good combo for the strip!

What is the optimum operating temperature for engine?

Nope, hotter just enhances fuel economy, for the same reason it hurts performance. Thinner air. Didn't mean to imply otherwise. Cooler, depending on the oil, though, can mean it's thicker and hold back performance (somewhat - the difference may be academic). The secret is to keep the air charge...

    Post them pics!!!!!!

+1 on that, been getting into 6-bangers over the last couple of years. Love the steel wheel look with chrome wheel nuts - that's been one of my favourite looks for years. Also looks great with redline tires or a chrome trim ring.

    Carburetor

I'm not sure what my VE is, but the CFM came out pretty close to the rule of thumb estimates I've heard before.

Just a girl looking to replace her carbuerator

I have a Carter AFB on mine, which is essentially the same as an Edelbrock Performer carb, which I have also owned before. I have never, ever had a lick of trouble with either. Changing metering rods is a breeze and I have my Carter set up with superb driveability yet returning 17+ mpg over 5 of...

What is the optimum operating temperature for engine?

180-190 is probably an optimum mix of economy, performance, and longevity. The hotter the better the fuel economy, but running colder doesn't necessarily better your performance.

    Should I get Cherry Bombs?

I've heard the Arvinodes, they are definitely a nice sounding setup, IMHO. Didn't like it on the first pass in the video, but it grew one me and I think it captures the muscle car sound down to a T. Smithy's pipes, as 65txcoupe brought up, sound nice too, very mellow. Also a very 50's touch...

    Should I get Cherry Bombs?

Thanks! I bought 'em through AutoZone, and they give me a lifetime warrantee on 'em. My 302 isn't stock, but it's not really modified...it's ,040" over, and all the bolt ons, but stock heads and cam and "only" running a 2" exhaust with an h-pipe, which is as much flow as what I have needs. I...

    Post them pics!!!!!!

Yup, I had those on my HS Mustang, a '68 hardtop. Got 'em cheap from Mustangs Plus, they had them laying around in late '02. I loved 'em then, but kind of prefer the deep dish wheels now. Funny how we all change...

    Should I get Cherry Bombs?

I LOVE my Cherry Bombs - I switched from the Dronemaster Delta Flows, and wish I had done it sooner. $30 got me a pair of them with lifetime warrantee. Had some Dynomax Bullets in my high school car (the one in the avatar) and my Dad had some Magnaflows on his 351C Mach, which were also nice...

API 'SM' Oil - no zinc... don't use in old engines?

Shell Rotella has a decent amount of ZDDP in it, and Redline synthetic does as well. STP Oil Treatment also contains ZDDP, but it's more a stopgap than a true benefit - I'd go straight to one of the aforementioned oils, as a full bottle of STP won't significantly raise your total ZDDP count. I'm...
