    5.0 conversion questions

Do a few google searches. When i did my swap, I found a great article online with plenty of pictures of exactly where to drill the dip stick hole. It's really pretty easy to do. Have you decided what water pump to use? The stock 5.0 piece is reverse rotation and may put the lower radiator...

    GT40 heads/E cam PV clearance

I have GT40 heads milled .030 with stock GT40 valve sizes and the e-cam with 1.6 rr and have no issues with PV clearance. However, I did have to buy custom lenght pushrods to get proper valve train geometry. I had PV clearance issues with the original 1.7rr on the engine. Bent two valves on...

sealing up oil pan the right way.

Make sure that you get the correct one piece seal that matches the oil pan you are using. If you use the one piece seal that is designed for an older Windsor engine (289) that does not use the same style oil pan, it will leak. When I finished the 5.0 swap on my 66 i used the seal designed...

    c4 to t5 conversion

2+2GT - how do you do it with the tranny in the car? I had heard that at a minimum you had to pull the tail shaft housing. Can it be done w/o pulling the housing? Posted via Mobile Device

    c4 to t5 conversion

Even though the post is 4 years old I want to make sure that anyone searching for information in the future on this swap knows that you MUST use the original yolk from the T5. As any transmission is used the yolk and tail shaft bearing wear together and must be used toghether from then on...

    Air/Fuel mixture and tuning

Get a Moates.net Quarterhorse instaed of the Tweecer. Newer, better technology, and half the price. Go ahead and buy Binary Editor and EEC Analyzer from Clint Garrity to use as the software to tune with. Clint has the best customer service in the world; and I mean that seriously. My...

    Should I get Cherry Bombs?

I have some el cheapo glasspacks behind a 10:1 and cammed 5.0 with 2.5" exhaust and I love the sound. I am also currently growing my mullet. In my opinion they aren't that loud and they certainly aren't going to get you a ticket. Here's the deal, its a muscle car not a Honda - its...

    1.7 roller and springs

Maybe I got lucky putting 25k miles on the engine on the road, AutoX'ing and bouncing it off the rev limiter on a weekly basis.... When I had that exact setup I did not have any coil bind issues - i.e. more than .050 clearance at max lift - nor PV issues. All I'm saying is that I had it, I...

    1.7 roller and springs

Wow, its amazing how violent some people can get about an opinion that is based in actual experience instead of ramblings about core shift, manufacturing tolerances of roller rockers, and the usual digs on aplhabet cams. I have run the exact combo that the OP is referring to and clearly, PJC...

    1.7 roller and springs

I'll be the voice of desent on this topic - by all means I would run the bolt down 1.7s and the E-cam with your stock setup. I did run that exact setup for a long time and that combo ran like a bat out of hell. If you call FRRP and ask them about putting 1.7s on an E-cam with stock...

Will the stock computer work with this?

It will probably run with the stock computer, but not well. Go spend $300 on a Moates.Net Quarterhorse and go spend some time on eectuning.net - then tune it yourself. It's really not that hard. The EEC can handle way, way wilder setups than what you've got. Good luck....

Time for new 225/60/15's ... need help

They aren't a 60k mile tire, but unless you peel out at every light, you should get 20-30k out of the easy. If you want a softer compound performance tire, you will trade wear resistance - just get used to it. Good luck... Posted via Mobile Device

    Help removing broken bolt please!!!

Do you have any oxy/acetelyne torch? Or even a cheap propane torch? Heat up the bolt, NOT the intake and then quench it with water. The bolt and intake have different rates of thermal expansion and contraction and this will likely break it free. Be extremely careful with the OA torch...

    CEL only at WOT? "lean"

You may just also have a miss fire at high load conditions. I had a bad plug that was causing a code 41 and it took me forwver to figure it out. Get rid of those platinums immediately and check and double check all your wires. My money is on a ignition based missfire. Good luck...

    Better braking power?

To generate braking power what you are trying to do is to generate the maximum amount of torque to resist the motion of the car. To increase the amount of torque that the braking system can generate, you can increase the moment arm of the system (i.e. the rotor diameter) or you can increase...

CAR STARTS CUTTING OUT FROM 4 TO 5000 RPMS?

Have you done a thorough check of your spark plugs and wires? The issue you are describing sounds exactly like what happens when a plug wire starts arching to the block or the header or whatever for any number of different reasons. Start the car at night in a very dark place and pop the...

    Loss of power on acceleration

I'd say you definitely have some sort of an ignition issue. Swap the original coil back in, check all your wires to make sure they're seated correctly, and take a good look at the cap and rotor. Also, the old trick of letting the car idle at night and looking for sparks really does work...

    Better braking power?

When I went to front disks, the results were night and day. The pedal travel was longer, but it stopped sooner and straighter. I'd rebleed the brakes to make sure you've got any air out. Also get some real pads...check out Hawks. Good luck... Posted via Mobile Device
