when you put the new TO on, did you grease the input shaft? I was in a hurry when I T5 swapped and I forgot, and now the TO bearing chatters on the steel shaft... DOH!!! Throwout bearings dont do anything until the clutch is pressed in, pilot bearings would squeal like crazy if they were bad...

    Building a N/A 2.3L

get a decent block, bore it .040, put some new forged pistons in it, get your head ported like crazy with large valves, longtube header, gutted intake manifolds, a huge lifted cam, get 42lb injectors, and spray a 200 shot in there and you'll love it. of course you'll have to fill the bottle up...

    Anyone bought pistons recently?

i see no problem with buying new pistons. if you plan in the future to add boost and maybe spray a little, new pistons just give peace of mind over 15 year old ones. while you're at it, you might look into getting ones .030 over and getting your block machined as well. nice new compression...

was I screwed on the flush and fill?

a proper flush would be: compeltely drain all radiator fluid from car and replace with water and a flushing solution to remove any oil deposits. run car for 10 minutes untuil at full operating temperature. drain and fill with water, drain again. fill with a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze...

    guage bezel

many companies including autometer sell "cups" that are angled which point the gauges toward you. you could use those. if you're only going to get 3 gauges I would just put em on the a-pillar. the oil press and water temp are things that should be in somewhat constant view. if either of...

    Adjustable fuel pressure regulator?

as far as performance goes... I would port the head like crazy before I stick a cam in it. theres loads of power to be had in the D-port head... and it wouldnt hurt to have it milled to raise the compression up as well... figure some larger valves and a valve job, mill the head, a roller cam...

    4cyl T5

I currently have a 4 cyl T5 tranny with 3:73's... after I swap out to a 331... I couldnt imagine keeping the same combination but with a v8 in front of it. My first gear is already pretty much useless other than redlining it to 15-20mph and breaking them loose... or maybe rock climbing.
