88 Mustang V8 Swap, Rebuild, Or Give Up?

This is more of a tech thread question than engine swaperoo, but: Apart from overheating is there anything else wrong with the car?? Give us some more info...have you noticed anything in the coolant that would indicate leakage? (bubbles) How long has the coolant been in there? What t-stat...

Will Coyote 6 Speed Work In Old School 5.0's?

Hypothetically speaking of course, I don't think it would be any worse off than a T5-the new tranny will take what a new 5.0 puts out (390lb/ft), and although I don't haunt the new 5.0 threads, I haven't heard much about the trannys coming apart as of yet. That being said, I'm sure getting the...

    AOD to AODE swap-what shifter?

Cool deal-thanks for the heads up. I was just going to find a stock one on fleabay, but I'll keep that in mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    AOD to AODE swap-what shifter?

Ok, perhaps a couple of you guys have seen some of the chatter I've posted about swapping a 4.6 4V in my '84 GT and I'll be backing it with a 4R75. It originally was a T5 car...other things to note-the reason I'm swapping to a ratchet shifter is because I'll be running a manual valve body AODE...

    Valve Adjustment Question

What makes you concerned that your lifters aren't working correctly? Does the engine lack power? Run unevenly? Do you have rocker noise? Lifters bleed down over time, or if the check ball/disc is loose or faulty, or the lifter is made poorly or worn out.

want to do an engine swap but I'm lost

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you either know the OP, or this thread struck a chord and you feel compelled to school us all on your very obviously extensive knowledge regarding engine swaps...please-feel free to dazzle us with your omniscience. Sorry to hear about the leg...get well...

    Antifreeze through the firewall

I can't say I've ever heard of a kit to do that...even if you cut a hole in the firewall, you still have to pull screws out of the top of the HVAC box to remove the core-and it's sandwiched between the top of the HVAC unit and the bottom of the cowl panel-no room to extract it even if you did...

    Antifreeze through the firewall

I've used the alumaseal brand stop leak, and it worked in my wife's '04 with a small intake gasket leak. But, that alumaseal is only a temp fix. You'll still need to R2 the heater core. It happens simply because when the pump is moving and when heat is in the coolant, it expands and it's...

New short throw shifter eliminate shifter rattling?

If the new shifter and bushing installation doesn't cure the vibration, you probably just have some weird harmonic in the output shaft or possibly worn bearings. And, at 117k miles, that wouldn't be much of a stretch to believe. The shifter would transmit vibrations from just about anywhere...

    QA1 K memeber guys...

I had mine in the front holes...having it in the back would definitely cause issues with the d/s to tranny measurements-especially if you're lowered.

    K-member from 1995 fit a fox?

While they will all interchange, they are not the same...79-87 (minus SVOs) were 1" narrower than 88-93 at the control arm mount locations. The SVOs were narrower, but control arms longer for better suspension angles...less camber gain/loss through deflection. They also had a shallower mounting...

It's the HVAC drain...and if you're losing coolant out of there, your heater core is leaking...BTDT...

    4V4I

Ok, so I got the Scamp up and running...down to some tuning items, and go figure my timing light and vacuum gage are NOWHERE to be found-probably loaned to a friend...guess I'll do it the old fashioned way...anywho... This allows me more time for the Mustang  Ok, so before I spend...

    4V4I

Noted-I'll do that. I just wanna make sure I'm putting it all together correctly, so it might be a little bit before I get it all put squared away. Hell, it'll be a bit anyway, even if I did have the cams in, I have to get fasteners for the oil pan, cam covers, and timing cover. If it isn't...

    4V4I

Hallelujah! There are some honest folks in the world-and ones that give good deals! My cams came in the mail today-B cams with bolts, gears, short chains, spacers, and secondary tensioners with hardware. I dropped the cams on the heads, but I'll probably have to rent one of the cam locking...

    Custom Exhaust Question

Correct-any decent exhaust shop assemble your pieces...I had one put a system together from mandrel bent sections for my '72 Plymouth. In case you've never seen one of them, the steering parts are too close to where long tubes would exit a Mustang, and the steering box is in the way on the left...

    Custom Exhaust Question

The Borlas are about the same size as flows if memory serves, but I don't think all the aftermarket tailpipes/intermediate pipes are exactly the same...minor fitment differences amongst them, but what you're doing is a good way to go about it as long as you're not spending the same amount in the...

new engine gt 40 intake very stiff brakes vacuum seems low

Don't get rid of the heads...FWIW, adjustable rockers used to be on SBFs... Get the heads fixed, and press on...but take a little more time during assembly...devil's in the details.
