Missing Persons....

The MMORPG is actually Final Fantasy XI ... it was nice during the winter since I usually spend a lot of time at the computer then, but now that the weather is decent, I'm working at tearing myself away from it. The new job is great so far (3 days in), but I won't see a paycheck until the...

    Missing Persons....

Thought I'd stop by and post Hi.... Been feeling guilty that I haven't been on here much in the last year or two. Started with getting layed off a couple years ago and money getting a little tight (I can't stretch unemployment as far as I used to be able to). My job after that was barely an...

Almost Done! 351W swap Hoo Haaah!

Manual rack and some new suspension parts takes care of any "touchiness"... No help for Wart, he'd cry if he saw my automotive work from my younger days, 5lb sledge hammer was my friend. And in my opinion, how long a T5 lasts will all depend on how it's driven and a little luck. The T-5...

    u-joints

SPICER ... never seen 'em without grease fittings though. In applications that would munch GMB u-joints weekly, Spicer u-joints have held up without failure. My 351W used to munch them all the time and my friend's F150 4X4 would too. Neither of us have had a Spicer u-joint fail after...

manual transmissions, what do you have?

New Tremec 3550 = $1395 ... When I was searching for a good new T-5, the best prices I could find were in the $950 - $1195 price range PLUS shipping. I found the Tremec at http://www.darkhorseperformance.com/ (10 miles from work). The 3550 is only rated for 375 ft/lb of torque and the T-5 is...

    Question about my LA2 Computer.

Don't have an LA2 to comparte, but if it makes your feel any better, I had an '88 5.0L computer that said 3.0L Taurus/Sable only on it.

Holley vs. Barry Grant (Let's Get some REPLYS Please)

I'm probably wrong about how long Holley's been selling them with power valve protection... I bought my first brand new Holley in '94 and it had power valve protection already built in. So I guess it's been at least 10 years. I was always told about blowing out power valves, but every Holley...

Holley vs. Barry Grant (Let's Get some REPLYS Please)

Never had an Edelbrock or Carter run as well as a well tuned Holley! Never blown a power valve (that doesn't happen in any of the Holleys sold for the last 6+ years). Never even considered spending the bucks on a Barry Grant carb. EFI is my choice if I could find/afford the setups I desire.

what does a vaccum leak do in the 2.3t motor

small leaks (1/2" round or smaller) usually cause rough/hunting idle and black smoke + low power with boost. HUGE leaks cause bad/no idle, low/no boost. Incorrect/Incomplete Idle adjustment and disconnected wastgate or bad exhaust leak together will cause an incosistent idle and no boost.

    Holley 600 on a 77 302

And I just remembered...when I set the secondary float levels, I usually test at idle by cracking the secondaries open without opening the primaries. If the float level is wrong, the engine will bog or backfire...usually when it behaves like this, you do end up with a hesitation just as the...

    Holley 600 on a 77 302

I must just get lucky with my Holleys too... The original 302 and the 5.0L in my Mach 1 both have never had that kind of hesitation with an "out of the box" Holley 600cfm 4160 vac. secondary. The only tuning I've done is running a stiffer secondary spring and I didn't do that until the 5.0L had...

    What do you think...??

Turbo or Blower? Turbo Nitrous or forced induction? Both they go well together Big-block or small-block? Big Block no replacement for displacement (15psi on a 5.0L just doesn't compare to 15psi on an 8.0L) Stroked or De-stroked? Turbocharged Stroked Big Block with...

Have a question about the coil packs on a '93

That misconception is still around!! Both plugs fire at the same time for combustion ... specifically, both plugs for a hot spark for combustion and, due to the way they are wired, both plugs fire a weak spark on the exhaust stroke. The weak spark doesn't even fire until the piston is almost...

    I got a question

Anytime the ride height of the rear end is changed, the pinion angle is going to change...be it lowering blocks, re-arched springs, short rear shackles. The only "bad" i've found with lowering blocks is in extreme cases with 4"+ worth of lowering block, the axle has more leverage to wind up the...

    looking for some quick help

The '83 head will bolt onto a '91 block, but the '91 intake won't bolt to the '83 head and you'd have to convert to single plug DIS (which is a simple conversion).

    Turbo Coupe Pistons

sorry...Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Chrysler Laser all have forged pistons in the turbo models...just like the Ford 2.3L. The factory ain't stupid enough to build them with cast pistons.

    OK NEW IDEA !

Once you've pulled an '87 or '88 wiring harness out of a T-Bird, you'll understand why people just repin the Mustang harness. '83-'86 is a different story. I used an '88 harness for my '78 Mustang, but I took a week with it spread out in my front yard to remove wiring that wasn't needed...
