    86 GT progress

    Ok so I have not been on in a few weeks and here is what has been done to the car to date. I got an Art Carr AOD, GT40 heads and intake, 4.10 gears, timing gears, weld big and little drag lites, and a B&M ratchet shifter. Haven't ran it yet but I hope to be abusing it at Irwindale this thursday...

    Question for all you fox guys.

    I've owned different stangs throughout the years. New edge GT's are comfy, pretty quick, and good for road trips. My 86 GT is a bouncy car to drive and I dd it. It is fast and loud. I wouldn't trade it for the world. If I had to do it again I would get an 89 5speed notch.

    as long as you have the cats, All OEM smog pump stuff, and C.A.R.B aftermarket perts you'll be ok. I passed with no mufflers but good Idea to get a set. Also they pressure test the fuel system and the gas cap in this state. Crappy California

    Ok before my tranny crapped out I was running 9.1@77mph at Irwindale doing the AOD shuffle. Now I got another AOD (came out of a truck) with the Valve body and govenor out of the Mustang tranny. I also did the Epoxy mod and put in a B&M Shift kit. Will my times improve?:flag:

    Yeah with that setup you should be in the low 13s. I have a stock 86 block, e7 heads, bbk shortys, and ford countour fans and I hit 14.02@95 at California Speedway. Something is wrong. Run a compression test to make sure you got good comepression.

    fuel filter can be changed in about 15 minutes. Located in front of fuel tank. Fuel filters cost about $10.

    is nitrous illegal?

    IT is illegal to have the bottle hooked up. You can have the NOS bottle in the car just can't be hooked up. Most cops don't care. It is when you use your nitrous that the cops care. Most are cool enough though. Ontario, CA and Riverside on the other hand are dicks when it comes to NOS. :flag:
