    285/40-17 problems

    My Q is who mounted them? No shop that I know of would mount a 285/40 on a 8" rim. I cant imagine it fitting at all. They would tell you to go get a 9".

    The tranny was a bit quieter than before and seemed to shift more positively. Don't be fooled by unroyal purple. Its a snake product.

    help with detonation

    This is a total guess but Im wondering if you have a valve thats not closing all the way? I wouldnt think a couple seconds of overreving would have floated a valve but I guess anythings possible. Maybe pull the valve covers off and inspect the valvetrain.

    Want to get an MSD Ignition

    The only thing I know of for the 99s up...is the MSD Stacker 8. Its a add on module gives u a stronger capacitive spark. I think its around $400 or so. Its very easy to install but I know on a stock car or one with a few mods its worth about 10-12 hp not sure what it would do for a blown car.

    How bout this...there is a little bit in chloraseptic throat spray. :shrug: We use it at work in the lab but I couldnt see dumping some in my gas tank. Ill ask the chemist at work about this one.

    If you wanna go with 10" wide rims in the rear...a 255 will just fit. I would probably go with at least a 265.

    Why change oil again after storage ?

    If you store your car and never start it for like 3 or more months moisture will build up inside your motor and contaminate your oil as well as giving your engine a lack of proper lubrication reguardless of what oil is in it. I would start it and let it run and get up to operating temp. to boil...

    Between the two...Redline for sure. I currently am running they're "shockproof" gearlube in my diff. and in my tranny. Deffinately good stuff. A chemist I work with knows the man that came up with the formulation for Redline. He says its a good product.

    The stacker 8 is for the distributorless ignitions on the 99s up. His car has two coil packs, one for each bank. Maybe try some screamin demon coil packs. Those with some low Impedance plug wires(I like Jacobs Electronics for ignition when possible). For plugs I would go with NGK TR6 coppercore...

    MSG Igntion

    As far as I know the only MSD ignition that serves any purpose on the 99s up(distributorless ignition, 8 coilpacks) is the MSD Stacker 8 which is like the plasma booster. In my opinion you don't need to upgrade the factory ignition. It seems to work well even on highly modified motors.
