this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

O.K., here's my opinion. You need to pull vacuum off the carb. Pulling it off the manifold will give you the wrong advance curve on your distributor since the manifold vacuum is all but gone under WOT(you will get stronger vac. readings on the carb under WOT due to the venturi effect). Another...

    I hate used cars

It doesn't have gears, it just the posi unit. I could throw in the 3.08's that were originally on it though.

    Crazy IDLE. NEED HELP!

You have probably already checked this, but did you physically look at the butterfly in the T.B. to make sure it is closing all the way?

    I hate used cars

Too bad you weren't a little closer, I could save you a few bucks in labour. I do have a rebuilt (with extra friction disc) 28 spline posi unit I could sell you for $150.00 though. Its in real good shape, and I only put about 1000kms on it since I re-built it. I moved up to a 31 spline unit this...

    I hate used cars

Well hopefully you got a good deal on the car to begin with. Buying a used car, especially a performance orientated car is always a risk. :(

    Exhaust Clamps

The best way is to weld them up. I fought with the clamps for a year, same problem as you, small leaks everywhere, until I finally got mad and welded them up!

They would just freeze and fall off in the winter up here! :D maybe a set of brass ones would work.

    Can someone help me please

My guess would be the clutch switch. Try pushing the clutch in as hard as possible while you have the key in the crank position. I've seen a lot of them like that, they just come out of adjustment.

What backspacing for Welds? Small front and 8" rear? Got pics?

edit: I forgot to mention that since I did the C4 swap, I had to use a longer driveshaft & that jacked up my rear-end even more. I was wondering about the driveshaft statement myself, what makes you think it effected your ride height?

    Dirt Track Slicks?

I tried Mcrearys a few years ago. They are better than most street tires as far as traction is concerned, but E.T. Streets are still way better!

Who will you vote for in thew Federal Election

I'm voting Conservative, even though the Libs will still get elected thank to the East. Hopefully it will be a minority Gov't if the Libs do get in...even though it will probably kill the economy.

anyone had exp. w/ GER or Hughes trannies??

I bought a converter and a manual valvebody from GER a few years ago...the converter disintegrated in about 30 seconds and the valveboddy never did work properly. I ended up getting an Art Carr convertor and just putting a shift kit in the stock v-body, and every thing was O.K. No warranty from...

    If all goes well

I would question as to whether the engine was actually rebuilt or not. He might be the type that added a can of "Restore" and called it good. :bs: Usually when someone has an engine out they wash the engine bay. Just my opinion, I would be very wary.
