Gas Prices!! and thankful to own a 2.3

Well in the last 2 weeks a tank of gas has gone up $5.25 for me. If I act like a tank of gas will last me a week, it won't maybe 4-5 days. that's about $24.54 a month. Remember this is the price increase in the last two weeks. I'm not bitching about my cars mileage or the possible reasons why...

    Effects of running no exhaust

unless I have been misinformed greatly (which is quite possible). [edit] I have been, it uses a certain material that measure "the partial pressure of oxygen in the mixture" Link I stand corrected and apologise for any misinformation I may have spread.

    Effects of running no exhaust

Yeah, I get how it burns the valves. But wouldn't that heat the outgoing exhaust to? The O2 sensor determine the A/F ratio based on the temerature of the Exhaust gas, so it seems to me it'd richen the mixture whic DUH! damnit I just realized would't do **** to stop the burning valves. But...

    Effects of running no exhaust

The way I've heard it, the valves burn not bend. And it's not cause the air's cold (since it isn't). I've never heard a good explanation of why, but I'm trying to figure out a way for it to happen. Perhaps when there is valve overlap the piston can draw in extra air heating up the burn. But I...

    Effects of running no exhaust

The muffler fell off right after I got the car. It wasn't so much a setup, yes it had the cats. I thought about removing them but I decided it already had lost to much backpressure and it was never gonn a be fast. I'll take a picture in the morning. I loved the noise it made. Especialy when you...

    Effects of running no exhaust

It'll burn the valves quick with an open header. Plus carbon monoxide poisoning. It'll be LOUD, harsh and annoying. and slow.

Gas Prices!! and thankful to own a 2.3

yeah I wish I was still driving my 2.3. Regular just got up to $2 a gallon here. Which makes premium $2.25, my car (of unmentionible marquee) gets maybe about 13 MPG in normal cuty driving. I just can't help but open those secondaries, even if it is expensive.

    Low Fuel Light

it doesn't go into the engine, it clogs up the fuel pump pickup. Which is a pain in the ass.

06 SVT Mustang Cobra Spotted !!

Hah! the one thing I did know for sure was that it was from Florida. It's easy to belive that it's a mustang so the tag doesn't matter. And you can't see the IRS or the hood from the back. LOL if you think the exhaust pipes are an IRS.

    Low Fuel Light

I have no idea how much is left, but when the light comes on it's time to put some more in. With fuel injected cars the fuel pump is in the tank so it uses the gas for cooling, if there isn't enough gas to keep it cool it can burn out. Also, the greater pumping force they use will suck all kinds...

good one for all 2.3 owners

I used to work with a kid who swore up and down that there was a FWD four cylinder mustang driving around town. He was dead positive he saw it smoking the front wheels. Well finaly one night I saw the EXP he was talking about :nonono: . Man, I got a good laugh out of that.

    CAI question

I don't think you could add enough air to require more fuel without a pump.

    CAI question

I'm not the best at explaing this, it took me quite a while to understand myself. When the piston is on the "intake" stroke the area of low pressure inside the cylinder is filled by the higher pressure outside the engine. So the volume of air in the cylinder will only reach the level of...

    Convertible with Roll Bar

LOL the chassis flex that a roll bar deals with doesn't have anything to do with the engine, in a normal car. It'd take an assload of torque to twist the car, a GT don't make near that much. Think side to side flex due to hard cornering.

    CAI question

I don't think it is, There's such a huge empty space right underneath the filter. I can't imagine the air being any colder in the fender then right where Kayotyc's is.

Anyone use manual as daily driver?

I drive a manual 4-speed with a realy heavy clutch, I prefer it to automatic even in traffic. It's easier to use throttle braking to follow the flow of traffic. If you learn to shift without the clutch it realy becomes no problem. Maybe I'm just distracted by the heat in my sweatmobile.

    Convertible with Roll Bar

The roll bar isn't just for safety. My dad's got a 4 point roll bar in his coupe just for the added chassis stiffening. link If I had a convertible, the first thing I would do would be get a roll bar.
