    2500 STALL WITH 3.25 GEARS?

I run the XE274H in my 347 and love it. It is definitely not too much for your much larger stroker. I would choose it along with a 750 vacuum secondary carb and a good quality stall converter. My car's performance was night and day difference when I changed from a 2500 TCI to a 3400 Edge...

    At a loss!

It sounds like the intake is not sealed correctly. Do the carb cleaner test as Rusty suggested. Spray it in different areas around the manifold as well as where carb meets intake with engine idling to see if the engine changes rpm. If it does you have a manifold leak. Did he follow the correct...

    heads, cam, carb, nitrous

Bullitt, My 347 is similar to your 331. I have 10:1 compression, AFR185's, my cam has a little more duration at .050" and yours has more lift, flowmaster exhaust.... With 4.11's your car should really scoot!! I have 3.55's and mine does pretty well. I used to run the Pro Products air gap and...

    heads, cam, carb, nitrous

With a 302 I would run: 650 carb Air Gap AFR 185's (way better than Performers) If you keep the Performers at least change the weak valve springs to match the cam. Shoot for 10:1 or so compression Solid Flat Tappet Cam (with matching springs) if you want to rev to 7000(go custom for most...

One of the few, the proud, a running turbomustang

10sec has a 67/68 Mustang. I remember him working on a set of turbo headers for the 65/66 cars a while back though. Congrats on getting the car running! Be sure and get some video from the track. I know there will be some bugs to work out but I can't wait to see how it runs. Should provide...

    Northern Radiators

Here in GA, Spring is a bit short and Summer is a bit long but we still only have 4 seasons.:D My Northern Radiator works wonderfully to keep my 347 cool. I do use a Spal 2360cfm fan on it though. I use approx. 70% water and 30% antifreeze in mine.

    1/4 time for 347

The e cam and gears are holding you back but traction is your biggest problem right now. Your 60 foot time is bad. Get some good tires and watch those times dip into the low to mid 12's easily. I have timeslips at 109 mph in the 12.0-12.2 range. Mustang Matt: I don't know how they do it at...

at what rpm do you have your c4's shift at?

Mine shifts the same as Washmo and 302 Coupe's.

How much power can an 8" really take ?

One thing to remember is that wheel hop can break any rearend. Even on street tires. I still have an 8" in my Stang and am using drag radials and have many runs in the high 11's without a problem. I also have an automatic and traction bars so easier launches and no wheel hop.

went to the track with the new turbo kit...

It was more than likely an 11.0-11.1 second run but with the top end charge of a turbo it is possible to see that elusive 10.99. There are some cars on Corral that run 7.04-7.08 in the 1/8 and 10.9 quarters. They are power adder cars. Get if fixed and work out the bugs and it should fly. I...

went to the track with the new turbo kit...

Man, I hate to hear that you fried some pistions. That sucks! On a good note you probably had a high 10 second run with that 7.10 1/8. Is that normal that each of the 4 pistons on the ends of the block would be ruined first? Sounds like those center 4 cylinders were hogging all the air/fuel...

    Uni-body twist versus HP

Before adding subframe connectors, when I would jack up one front corner of my car the doors became more difficult to open and close. It is as easy as that to see how the uni body flexes. Now they open and close normally when on a jack. My connectors are still only bolted in. They will get...

    Uni-body twist versus HP

Of course a 6 point roll bar will do wonders for fixing our flimsy uni body cars. For the amount of HP you have, I would get a good set of subframe connectors at a minimum.

The turboed 67 has been dynoed

Nice numbers!:nice: That torque should be stupid fun. You basically only get a dyno run to 4200 rpm. The torque may go up some more but the HP could go way up from there. Get the air/fuel dialed in and you will have a monster. When do you plan to take it to the strip to get some track...

    Headers & Torque Converters......

I like the Hooker Comp headers myself. That is what I am using on my 347 with C4 trans. in my '66. It's a tight fit in the earlier cars but will go in easily in your '68. As far as a torque converter I totally agree with bluecobra. A custom converter built with them knowing your entire...

    northern aluminum radiator

I also run my C4 through the cooler on my Northern Radiator and then through the stacked plate cooler. My engine runs at 160 degrees so my tranny fluid should stay plenty cool. If my memory serves me correct, automatic transmissions (as well as the lifeblood ATF) are perfectly happy when run...

    northern aluminum radiator

That transmission cooler will greatly help your transmission live. I believe I have ths same size cooler on my Stang. It is a very large stacked plate type cooler. Automatics produce lots of heat through normal driving and lots more under heavy performance usage. You will NOT run your tranny...

First Time @ The TrACK How Did I Do?

You definitely have more than enough power for 11's. I have run in the 11's several times at only 112mph. My 60 footers were 1.74 on those runs so that should be about what you should shoot for to get there. Good luck!

First Time @ The TrACK How Did I Do?

To original poster: Get your 60 foot down a few tenths and you will be knockin on 11's door. It is easier said than done but you do have enough power to run in the 11's. You just have to hook it up at the start line. What was your 1/4 mile speed? To the 8.7 second 1/8 mile poster: An 8.7...

    1/4 mile and hp numbers

I am using the stock AFR springs on my heads which are good to .550 as well and I am using a Comp XE274H in mine. It measures 230/236 @ 0.050" and lift is .519" and .523". It works great in my engine and sounds really mean with h-pipe and flowmasters. If not a bit too loud. I hope to hit mid...
