Stainless header bolts and Aluminum heads??

With a coating of RTV silicone or never seize you will be fine in this application. Usually the corrosion problems come up on pumps, etc and take a while to occur. Jamie

    oil pump driveshaft

Not a problem. I'm not sure, but I think the info on the TFI distributors was in the FRPP book a coupe years ago too. Memory is getting jogged and I remember reading a foot note on the oil pump drives.

    Ticking....Gets louder when warm

Usually it ends up in the way when trying to get the cover off. Oddly enough my friends T bird has had the Cobra 1.7 roller rocker bolts come loose twice. I'm real picky about torquing them correctly so the mounts don't crack out and fail. Had a bunch of rockers come loose over the years for...

    oil pump driveshaft

May be the problem afterall. Also if you can manage it, stick a screwdriver or vernier caliper down the hole and try to measure the hex section of the pump drive shaft and compare it to the distributor hole. The guy with the problem way back didn't want to cut his off either, ended up asking...

    oil pump driveshaft

302 shaft is 1/4" socket to prime, 351 shafts are 5/16". One stupid point... Is it by any chance a FMS oil pump shaft with the hex sections in a round body (sorry 'bout the description it sucks), not hex allthe way like the stocker? If so then you need to cut about 3/8" off the end of the...

    Ticking....Gets louder when warm

Before you flip out too much just pop the upper off and the valve cover and check each rocker for looseness on that cylinder's firing point on the distributor. Pull the cap and mark the distributor cup with the cylinder numbers, then bump it around to each position and check it out. I very...

    Just a few suspension questions

Your thread asks three different questions that you can easily answer yourself or find an answer to using the search function or even brousing back a few pages. Guys get tired of the same questions... I'm just bored at work so I'll answer them. For the control arms, if the cat back looks...

    oil pump driveshaft

At this point your best bet is to pull the oil pump shaft completely out and RTV it into the end of the distributor With the clip out of position you run the risk of pulling the dist and hearing the horrible clang of the driveshaft falling into the pan. As to your original question, you can...

    Flooding

Welcome to the club... You '87 should have speed density engine management and if it's not heavily modified (heads and cam) will run good. Shooting from the hip I suggest checking the vacuum line to the MAP sensor on the firewall and making sure it's in good shape. It's purpose is to...

    Head gasket install question

Skip, your's are on wrong... coolant passages to the back on head gaskets... Coolant flows from the bottom radiator hose to the water pump, through the block front to rear, up through the holes in the gaskets and back out through the heads, finally up through the front of the intake to the T...

    will an 88 T5 bolt to an 84 5liter?

V8 pilot bearings been the same since at least the II's if not earlier. Output shafts the same. Jamie

    Question about afr heads?

1/2" bolts are used on 351's so you'll need the hardened step washers from ARP to use the mon your 302. You're probally better off getting the emmisions heads just to keep the EGR functioning. Jamie

Need help, lower intake will not line up with heads??

Ditto the above, dump the heads because you are only asking for trouble on everything else from valve train to exhaust fitment. Friend went through this nightmare last year, got frustrated after ruinning an intake and still not getting it to run. Jamie

    Can I Boost It!

You can do it with a blower, just get a basic A trim and a timing master and keep it around 5-6psi and love it. The compression makes for a very flat torque curve with a mild cam. My combo worked exceptionally well. Jamie

Can you put AFR 185's on a Stock 302?

I have to agree with Greeny, the intake and cam have much more to do with how an engine performs than the heads. If anything do as I did and get the 60cc heads to keep the compression up.

Fram filter with no oil?? What the...

Ditto, frams use a cardboard check valve, very bad for startups. FYI, just pulled a napa gold off my Dad's GT and it was only half full. FL1A's for me though. Jamie

Best place to buy 8 point cage??

Ditto the S+W, but a friend had a local race car build put one in for $350 that turned out pretty dang good. If I were you, I'd ask around at the local track and see if you can get a hook up from a local chassis builder. Jamie

tbird rear swap hardline to softline question

Probally because I did it way before Matt had a site so I figured it out on my own... How are you doing it? The Tcoupe rear is the same width as a stang, just the axles and caliper brackets are wider. I ended up cutting the brackets and mounting them on the inside of the housing flanges and...

Why am i running a second slower with the charger?!!

Gawd what a mess... If those who haven't been there or don't know would just shut up this thread would not be so F'd up. Before we continue please read my signature. As said above you need all the vacuum lines hooked up correctly, including the PCV system (the pcv itself can handle the...
