Car maybe totaled, what to replace it with?

I agree with that . . . the only thing is that I'd have to settle for an older/more used sample of the M3 or C5.

Car maybe totaled, what to replace it with?

I'm not concerned about a beater. I get a company car at my job, and my finace has a Saab 9-3 that she leases. The Mustang is a weekend toy only, and the new car would be too.

Car maybe totaled, what to replace it with?

I might consider the STi, has anyone driven one compared to the EVO? I've driven an EVO, and I really liked it . . . the STi would have to be noticeably better, since I like the EVO's looks a lot better. I'm positive I don't want a mustang. A mustang is not what I would call open track...

Car maybe totaled, what to replace it with?

I have thought about that actually. I've put so much money and work into this car, I kind of want a car that is good to go out of the box, and has nice paint and clean interior. I have also been toying with the idea of building a Spec Miata race car or a 125cc Shifter Kart.

Car maybe totaled, what to replace it with?

I came back from a 2 week business trip only to find that my Mustang had been ransacked and my stereo, gauges, and headlights stolen. Pretty much every body panel has some minor gouges, and the door panels and dash are severely damaged. I'm thinking there is a chance it will be totalled. I...

Ran a little w/ an '05 on the Freeway

Ford does a lot of testing and tuning on public roads towards the later stages of a new model's development. So cal is one of their spots. It's entirely possible and even very likely.

I did it I sat behind the wheel of an 05

Not true, they are all over the place. There are at least several dozen of various prototype level cars running around the country, if not more.

Popular Mechanics says a new Cobra by mid 2005.

Sorry, Cobra will NOT be out until summer 2006 as a 2007MY. Period. PM is wrong, no ifs ands or buts.

wtf is car and driver smoking

I work in the automotive industry, though not for a mag or directly Ford. I have driven S197's as well as every iteration of SN95 there is (Cobra, GT, Bullit, Mach 1, etc). I'm curious (seriously, not trying to be fecitous), what brakes did your freind try on his Cobra, and why did he revert...

wtf is car and driver smoking

I 100% agree. I wonder if any of you people have driven a proper modern sports car (350Z, RX-8, Evo, etc). If you have and STILL can't admit that most american cars (Mustangs/Camaro's) fall short in just about every category except MAYBE straightline acceleration are blind or stupid. I also...

Saleen, web proof they start with the GT?

That is correct, they DID do that with the S351's until 2000. But the S281's are just modified GT's. You can tell by the badges. S281's all have GT side emblems, S351's all had V6 side emblems.

    03 Cobra killer, can I get a H4LL YA!

Hmmm. 5-7 car lengths on a Z06??? I ran a Z06 with just a cat-back and a great driver and he pulled away ever so slowly from about 100-130mph. We ran from a roll and I shifted at 6100-6200rpm. You can't have THAT much more power than me . . . I'm pushing 12lbs through an S-trim with...

    S/C + Nitrous Question

13lbs of eaton boost PLUS a 75 shot? Anyone who would try that on a stock bottom end DESERVES to blow up their engine. That combo will easily push 550-600rwtq . . . even if it could be tuned detonation free, that kind of torque would snap your rods like twigs. I wouldn’t try it.

    Manifold Supercharger Opinions

Don't undrestimate that blower. With the right bolt ons, it makes for a VERY fun street car. I won't make the peak power numbers, but the torque more than makes up for it, and the sound is 100x better than the vortech. However, don't pay retail price for it. You can find them on ebay and...

    Best starting point?

The Mach will have more ultimate potential, but parts are harder to come by, and all the blower kits out there for the Mach's are fairly expensive. The 2V will have a more boost-freindly compression ratio to start with, there are more options, head work/cams are MUCH cheaper, and with peole...

    Racecraft Suspension

Don't spend money on Saleen or Roush. They are band-aid kits that don't address the true deficiencies (there are many) of the fox chassis. Your money would be MUCH better spent at Griggs or Maximum Motorsports. IMHO, Steeda is up there as well, but some say their parts aren't up to full race...

    Supercharging the Daily Driver...or Nitrous?

The fact that Nitrous is cheap is a bit of a misconception. Yes, the base kit is cheap, but you'll also NEED a blow down tube, fuel pressure and rpm safety switches, bottle heater, and pressure gauge (at least at the bottle). Then, if you want to get the most out of it while not losing power...

    Eaton Differential Case Made overseas!

Unions are a drain on the American automotive industry. Yes, quality starts with engineering. The problem is, our hands are tied by the bean counters who truly make the decisions because they have to make up for the ridiculous wages and pensions and health care costs that Ford and GM have...

    hp or torque

The cars CAN'T have the same power band if the hp and torque curves are what you say. One will be a higher revving engine like an N/A Cobra engine and one will be a torque monster like a truck engine. HP = TQ*RPM/5252. These theoretical questions never go anywhere because there are TOO many...
