    AOD Swap help

First remove the nut on the end of the shaft. They you have to pull out a roll pin that I've circled below: ] The roll pin sits in a groove on the shaft preventing it from moving side to side. I've found the best way to get it out is to clamp some vice grips onto it and just pull it out...

I'll try again!!! 5.4 (mod, no 331 pushrod strokers)

The new chevy motors resemble Fords more than chevys Mod motor weigh between 440 and 600 lbs, depending upon head/block material. The new corvette small block makes 500 horses, but it also displaces 427 cubic inches, or 7.0 litres. IMHO, the Chevy pushrod motors are nearing the end of...

Anyone Running a Weiand 174 on there 289??

Do you have link to it? I've never run one, but I've always thought they were sweet. I don't think they're the most efficient by far, but they are good for 6-7 pounds boost.

    Rear gear question.

Heads are ten times better than a stock boss? As far as stock heads go, you can't get much better than the Boss ones. Your valves are gonna float way before 8K. Unless you are using solid lifters. Which arent stock. Balanced bottom end? I don't think Ford balanced then from the...

    Aod Not Shifting To Forth???!!

The "proper" way to set up your TV cable is to take it to a trans shop. They should hook up a pressure gauge to the line pressure and adjust it based on the reading. The "Do-it-yourself" way is to make sure that there is NO slack in the cable. Also there HAS to be 1:1 movement between the...

    66 Mustang Timing issue?

I have a couple guesses. -Timing light on wrong plug wire -Dizzy installed incorrectly Of those two, I would say the second is more likely. I'm guessing that your timing marker is on the passenger side of the block. If your marks are showing up underneath on the drivers side, I would...

Why does my car seem slow?

The edelbrock performer intake is not much better than stock. Edelbrock actually cast the stock Ford 4v intake in those years, and the performer is basically the same except for ford parts #'s etc. What cam are you using? Is this a hipo or reguluar 289? What compression? I agree with...

    C4 to Aod swap

I forgot to say that the later SBFs had six bolt bellhousings, and the 65 & earlier 289's had five bolt. This is what I remember reading, no guarantee that its true...

    C4 to Aod swap

OK, I'll rephrase that, if you use hedman part # 88300? , 1 5/8 primaries, you are going to have problems... A pic of the modifications I had to make to my headers. I had to cut the collectors off, bezel the ends and weld them back on to make room for the wider case on the AOD. I also...

    Aod Not Shifting To Forth???!!

Why would you want an overdrive delete on an overdrive transmission? From what I've heard, if it isn't shifting properly, make sure you're TV cable is functioning properly. If its not, adjust it and if that doesn't fix it you're AOD is likely burnt. Running with an improperly adjusted cable...

    C4 to Aod swap

I thought the 302 and the 351W had the same bellhousing pattern. I also think that some of the early 289's had five bolt bellhousings. Maybe this was the reason you had to change bellhousings on the C4? You might have a problem with the headers you're running. I'm pretty sure no oen makes...

    Place in Saskatoon

I live in rez at the university, and I'm moving out in may, but that doesn't really help you. I wouldn't think that you'll have a problem finding a place, as theres lots of sublets because students move out of the city for the summer.

    aod + carb = ?

I think it came out of a 2WD truck. If it was a 4WD I would think you would have problems. I'm not quite sure how the 4WD transmission/transfer case works. No big problem with it, except I think I turned the shift shaft 180 degrees. Not too hard, just have to remove the pan, disassemble...
