    Alternator not charging battery

    get a voltmeter (can be had for as little as 4 bux) and put the positive lead on the alternator post and the negative lead on a ground and see what the voltage is. It should be around 13.6 - 14.6 or so. If there is about that much voltage there then your alt is good. Do a check at the battery...

    horsepower is derived from torque...so therefore if you lose torque..you lose horsepower. Soo, in that case, if you lose horsepower through the drivetrain, you're also losing torque. on another note...you only have torque going through the drivetrain

    what heads to look into

    if you can find some windsor Jr. heads for cheap then those would be a decent head for the price. Or you can go with GT40 heads out the junkyard. Other's will chime in I'm sure about other heads and what year explorers you can pull the heads out of.

    HAHAHA, no kidding lol. It was easy to get to, too...cuz originally it was pointed towards the wheel well so all I had to do was move the well a bit if I ever needed to change a fuse.
