    Gasket matching intake ports - 1262???

    I'm with thumper. opening up the entry will not help the flow. fact will probably reduce the flow. I always just true up the head port with minimal amount of removal then match the intake side to that.

    bad wires or distributor cap causing eradic crossfiring to those cylinders causing detonation. usually found on cylinders 7&8 on 302 firing order or 6&5 on 351 firing order.the corrosion on the coil wire was probably the culprit.

    piece of hose will do the same as stetescope. put in ear and listen to areas of the engine. but sounds like spark off of coil wire or plug wire. one may have come loose or gone bad. raise hood at night and look at the wires for sparks.
