    Mustang GT vs Mazda RX-8, Can't decide which to buy

    Just saw in the paper this morning: All RX-8 cars are being recalled. Seems if left idling at a high speed causes 02's to melt, harnesses, other exhaust components and THE GASTANK TO MELT! The fix is reprogramming the computer. This fix will probably also affect performance.

    I don't know if you know the 94/95 computer, but the only way you can tune them is with a) A very expensive TwEECer [and interfacing laptop], or b) a custom burn. If the guy is on a budget, the custom burn/ EEC tuner [not including laptop] and custom grind cam will cost about eight times...

    According to Ford, if you have the AODE and install an "E" cam, you *WILL* need to change your torque converter. In most cases an "E" cam will pass smog tests. Ford Racing now sells 3200 stall converters pretty darn cheep for the AODE.

    Mods to improve gas mileage?

    Folding bicycle in the trunk? Why bother? When you buy a 'Stang, gas milage should be the furthest thing from your mind... A more free flowing intake might help, but probably the only mod(s) that would make any difference for you would be pulleys and a chip tuner.

    Latest sales figures for 350Z sales in 2005: 6,594 (decrease in sales from prev yr = 18%) Latest stang figures for 2005 sales: 61,820 (increase in sales from prev yr = 19 %) I wonder how much Mustang sales have hurt the 350Z? From these figures, it must have had an impact.
