    Stud/Pedistal mount rocker arms?

Stock HO valvecovers will clear 1.6 full RR's IF and only IF you grind the baffles out of the insides. Now as far as 1.7's, I don't know you'd have to grind the covers and then test-fit them I suppose, and make sure the rocker arms have enough clearance to fully open and close

    running lean need help.

So if you're breaking the wire and it's improving, that, to me, would tell me that the O2 sensor is probably bad. Does it have issues when its cold, because the ECU isnt going to read the O2's until they heat up. Otherwise I'd say vacuum leak, if it's only on the left bank maybe you have a bad...

looking to tune my car (clueless on this computer stuff)

I'm just going by my own experience, but as I mentioned, aftermarket heads, a big cam, 75mm intake, injectors, pretty much every bolt on available, and a tune did very very little for me driveability wise, the stock computer handled it all just fine. Also just finished tweaking on another guy's...

    couple small issues left

Clicking/ticking noises?? How about loose/misadjusted rocker arms.

looking to tune my car (clueless on this computer stuff)

Yep. IIRC, the ECU can adjust the trim tables +/-10% to compensate, past that it hits its limit and I *imagine* would trigger a CEL for O2 rich/lean. I've found in most cases, an ECU reflash just isnt necessary or worth the money. I have aluminum heads, a rather large cam for a daily...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Thanks, Id be curious to know how yours goes. No smoke here, only very faint smoke on a hard rev.. Im so confused because these symptoms are contradicting themselves.... Only thing I can say for sure is, when I feel the power-cut (where its not making any noise, but the gas pedal is down...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Check your MAF, I fixed a guy's car that did the same thing but at 3000 rpms, like a wall it wouldnt rev past, it was a faulty mass air meter. Update guys: Driving to the movies today the miss got much, MUCH worse. Loud backfires in rapid succession, EXTREME bogging, kicking and bucking...

looking to tune my car (clueless on this computer stuff)

IMO, I consider chip tuning necessary on speed-density motors which cant compensate as well, or when you just cant get it running well enough by other means, but as I said before the stock eec-IV will put up with a lot.

swapped explorer intake on, runs rich/bogs, please help!

Well its a little hard to say, Im used to a mass air motor....but you know that SD motors have a very hard time countering modifications and tend to require chip reflashes to run perfectly? Cant see why you'd run pig-rich and have problems.....you have a lot of vacuum, which points away from...

    how to tell H.O.from motor?

thats the thing I dont know if the HO rollers came with different stamps from the SO rollers.....cause only real difference is the firing order on the camshaft, other than that theyre both hyd. roller 302's. I mean hell they made HO rollers with both forged and cast pistons even, and I couldnt...

looking to tune my car (clueless on this computer stuff)

Fuel pressure changes your A/F ratio! If you change the fuel pressure behind the injector, when it fires, it fires more fuel because its firing at a higher pressure at the same pulse-width,

    how to tell H.O.from motor?

Uhhhhmmm..hard to tell...I know the older motors came with a different firing order from the HOs, which is in the camshaft. If theyre both rollers its be real hard to tell I think unless you knew the camshaft in it.

Why am I running out of breath at 4-5000rpm

Im in agreement there. Could always play around with the tuning a little and see what you can do. You sure the cam timing is right? Maybe it's retarded a few degrees

looking to tune my car (clueless on this computer stuff)

5.0's are best tuned manually, computer tuning is not usually necessary....the EEC-IV is pretty loose and imprecise, tuning is far more important on the EEC-V system that the newer cars came with. Honestly Ive had good luck tuning with just tweaking on the fuel ratio, reading the plugs...

Why am I running out of breath at 4-5000rpm

That single-plane should really want to rev...Im not sure what kinda single plane it is, but generally dual-planes are better except for race apps.... May just be a mismatch of parts that's keeping you from your potential.... I mean when I think single-plane, usually I think of my buddies...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Thanks guys I'll check it out in the next few days, see if I find something. noslow...sure your tach is correct? And it only happens at that specific rpm, only when cold?

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Yep replaced it today, to no effect..... Wish I were more of a wiring guru but honestly I suck as an electrician, I hate doing electrical...Im the type of guy that *barely* knows how to use a DVM and used to ground at the battery :nonono:

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Ya got it backwards, ICE-COLD the problem isnt there at all. After 30-60 secs of driving it starts, and after that it's unaffected by engine temperature and continues to happen until the car sits for a few hours, then same deal....30-60 seconds of clean operation. This made me think, failing...
