    Cylinder Head Questions..

Answering your question is about the hardest thing to guess at in building an engine. After you have matched correct piston to cylinder head type as said by Joel5.0, you must ALWAYS check piston to valve clearance yourself.

    Dumpin the EFI

Hahahah, my suggestion exactly. I have a 347 with twisted wedge heads, 282S comp solid flat tappet cam, the RPM air-gap and a 750 edelbrock. Couldn't be happier.

    Need Carb tuning 101 class

Well, an edelbrock is a mechanical secondary carb, so of course the secondaries are open the instant to mash on the throttle. It does have an air valve (which does not completely cut off air to the secondaries) that has very limited tuning capabilities. However, no engine should require that...

Carburetor choice (daily driver, 351cid, ~400hp, manual transmission)

Can you describe exactly when you get the hesitation? Some people have it during part throttle, others right off the line, others during more heavy throttle... Can you give an example?

    Failed emissions w/the "B": Hydrocarbons

you will probably pass with the stock H-pipe, but you might pass even more with a new H-pipe with converters.

A 302 at my disposal.. advice wanted.

I didn't rip your **** apart. All I said was you are being unrealistic, and that is the best advice you can get, because if you put that engine together you would be disappointed and then come here and ask why your engine is underpowered, and then you would get the same answer that your parts...

    14/16psi vs head gasket!!! Lol

what are you talking about dude, those gaskets are still in GREAT shape!!!:jaw: It was the boost.

Carburetor choice (daily driver, 351cid, ~400hp, manual transmission)

Did you do any tuning at all to the carb? I have noticed many people complain about bogging with edelbrocks, and any time I experienced it after first installing an edelbrock carb, it was very easy to get rid of the bog with simple changes. With the upgrades you plan, get a 750 edelbrock...

    Basic Carb Question Edlebrock AVS

Yep, 7psi is definitely at least part of the culprit. And you're right, there are regulators that don't need return lines, and cheap ones too, about 28 bucks I think in Summit. About the float adjustment, it may be fairly new, and you're right that they don't go out of adjustment on their own...

A 302 at my disposal.. advice wanted.

I think you are sadly mistaken on ported 351W heads to be "really high flowing heads". Almost any aftermarket head is going to be better out of the box. Also, you should not get a really big cam if your heads are not going to be really high flowing, especially if this is going into a street...

    Dist weight ???

93LX provided the exact link I was going to give you about the duraspark distributor. Since you mentioned converting to HEI, here is another link for you: http://www.carbdford.com/tech/HEI/hei.htm

Tips to keep car runnin cooler in summer time?

Yes, indeed. It is a big misconception that running a lower degree thermostat will keep your car from overheating as much, when in reality, when both thermostats are open there is no difference between them really (in theory). All the thermostat rating means is when the thermostat opens...

    Basic Carb Question Edlebrock AVS

you're not way off base, but your problems are not with the gasket. Since you cleaned out the needle and seats and still had the problem (I would check it again since you found debris already), there are only a couple more things that could be wrong. 1) The floats have holes in them causing...

    Dist weight ???

If you notice, there is a plate below the rotor and the "gear looking thing" that is as big as the housing. It has two screws holding it in place, one is very easy to get at, and the other is kinda under the module that is in there. If you take that off, you can get to it easily. Under that...

    Engine Temperature To High?

Are you starting to have hotter weather out there in Texas? I would start to worry when you hit 230.

    Need better gas mileage...

It depends on which model holley I believe. Some can handle up to 7 psi, while others can handle 9+psi. I know the stock holley on my 85 stang runs with the stock fuel pump, which puts out 8.5 psi. I have heard people say a basic 4160 holley shouldn't run more than 7psi though. I have less...

    Advertised HP

HAHA, so true. However, some people do switch to carb because it is cheaper than buying all new EFI stuff.

Can I use my stock Lifters - 347 build

There is no need to replace the lifters every time to replace the cam. Even the cam manufacturers say that you don't need to do that. Doesn't anyone read instructions anymore?

    650 Mighty demon question

My advice: Don't touch a dang thing before you put it on!! Put the carb on, run it, check the spark plugs to hopefully see a nice tan tint, and adjust accordingly. You are only making more work for yourself unless you know someone that has the exact same combo and already went through this...

    Windsor Sr aluminum heads junk?

$1000 for just the heads and rockers is a fair price. I say go for it. The large runners will work well with your blower for sure. I am not a fan of world products, and it's because I own a set of their 180 (170cc) iron heads. However, those heads you are looking at will be a VAST...
