Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

And that's cool for you but unfortunately for GM, it's a small niche. As for myself, I don't have a prioritized list. I take the car as a whole and judge it with all those factors you mentioned rolled up together. The GTO certainly appeals to me from a performance standpoint but not enough to...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I bet if it was reversed and the GTO got the "must buy" award then you'd be saying "finally C&D recognizes the greatness of the GTO". You only have a problem with it because the GTO didn't win. Also, I think the fact that the GTO isn't selling worth a damn says that C&D isn't that far off the...

Mustang plant puts out 1500 a day?

That's why I put that "if" in there. :D

Mustang plant puts out 1500 a day?

Remember, Flatrock also builds Mazda 6s. If that 1,500 is total daily production, then a large number of them are Mazdas.

    2005 Ford Mustang GT on C&D's 10 BEST List! ! !

I believe that issue also has a comparo between the Mustang GT and the LS2 GTO and the Mustang came out on top.

Yeah, it's too bad Chrysler said they aren't going to build the convertible.

can the automatic take the abuse

Ahhhh...then I stand corrected. At any rate, it's a vast improvement over the outgoing auto that's for sure.

Break-in period of new 2005 stangs

This is from the owners manual: It's amazing what you find in that little book in the glove compartment! :D

can the automatic take the abuse

It's not a new transmission. It's the same tranny that's been in Jags and the Lincoln LS for several years. As someone else stated, there are Jags making around 400HP with this tranny.

    Best dealer rip-off story yet

Over on Brad's site, there are a couple of car salesmen who said that some dealers are trying to not sell a car by marking them up like that. The explanation is that having an '05 sitting out front or in the showroom is an attention getter and builds traffic for the dealership. Even at MSRP...

    x plan

X-plan is a discount pricing plan available to employees of Ford suppliers or to family and friends of Ford employees. The pricing is: A-Plan (Ford Employee Pricing) + 4% + $150 ($250 for Lincolns) If you're a good negotiator you can get pricing just as good as X-plan but those that hate...

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

Alot of the lube places will do that. I saw someone bring in their own oil to a Texaco lube shop. They still make money off the labor.

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

Absolutely! It's always good to make a new friend! I'm not an '05 owner (yet). As you can see in my sig below, I currently own a Mazda 6 (which BTW is a great little car) but I've owned Mustangs in the past. I really thought my '92 would be my last. The SN95s are nice but just didn't...

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

Yep, I believe you are correct sir. We were talking at each other not to each other. My apologies as well. Believe it or not, it happens in "real life" as well! :D I take partial blame since I made the statement about changing the oil at less than 1,000 when I meant to say at 1,000. I'm...

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

Did you read my post above? I'm agreeing with you! I stated I wouldn't do anything regarding the oil until the 1,000 mile break-in period is up. At any rate, the original poster stated somewhere along the way (it was lost in between all our posts) that he's going to wait until after the 1,000...

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

Why should I blindly trust your recommendation when I have my own experience to rely on? FYI, I asked my Mazda service advisor if using Mobil 1 at the first oil change was a problem and he said "No problem". In case your wondering, my Mazda has a 3.0L Duratec engine in it. I'm sure if you...

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

Exactly! Also Mobil 1 meets the spec outlined by Ford (WSS-M2C930-A) as the correct motor oil for the 4.6L engine which means it can be used at the first oil change.

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

And I respectfully disagree with you. If they didn't want you to use synthetic for the first 1000 miles, they'd say so. That's why there is are two separate sections in owners manual: one for friction modifiers and one for motor oil. Friction modifiers are things like teflon whereas Mobil 1...

2005 Mustang GT & synthetic Oil

On the Mazda 6 forum where I spend alot of time, there is whole section dedicated to used oil analysis. Based upon the analysis of the used oils, the two best synthetics are Mobil 1 and Amsoil, with Mobil 1 getting the nod as being slightly better (and easier to get since you can buy it at...
