Yeah, snap ring pliers are required as well. Two types actually. A standard pair to remove the snap ring on the end of the driven 5th gear assembly and then a specialty set for removing the two different sized snap rings on the output shaft assembly. If you get stuck on any part, post up. It's...

Build Thread Jamee's Build Up Thread

Good job so far. This is probably one of the better build progress threads I've seen on here over the 9 years I've been a member. Also, the damage I saw in the tranny was on the 1/2 slider. Very common wear spot from going aggressively into second. I'm too tired to scroll back and see if there...

    Tranny removal...how many bolts?

Hey guys, putting a clutch in an 05 Gt for a friend. All Data says there should be 8 bolts holding the tranny to the engine. Ive removed seven and have a clean shot of the entire "bellhousing". There are no more bolts. Am I missing some hidden bolt somewhere? Tranny definitely isnt moving but...

How are the winter projects coming?

Venom, arent gears the ****nit? My car seems like a whole new beast and its relatively stock with 3.73s. Yours must be pretty crazy. I thought about 4.10s since I did the 5 speed swap but I was worried first gear would be non existent. Plus with future plans of a Kenne Bell, Ive heard people say...

How are the winter projects coming?

Been a while since Ive been on Stangnet. I was so fed up with waiting for my trunk and spoiler to be painted, I went out and bought two four wheelers for me and my girl to occupy all my down time. Now Im addicted to them. Its fun riding the trails. In any case, Im STILL waiting for my trunk...

    Electric noise back of car?

I'd say 99.9 % that youre just hearing your fuel pump. Either the factory one is on its way out, or it may have been replaced. Walbro upgraded ones are notoriously noisy.

How are the winter projects coming?

Man, I wish I wouldve gotten that much back for a return. Id already have my KB bought and installed! On a seperate note, threw on a new Dayco belt and decided to get a new windshield since I've had full coverage on my car since I bought it and never once filed a claim. Glass was pitted like...

    Rear end noise, see video.

And to note, backlash should be between .008 and .014, though ideally you want it between .010 and .012. If for example they were setup on the high side, at .012 theres a chance that over time the backlash has come out of spec. Just tossing out ideas. I would have said U joints as a first guess...

    Rear end noise, see video.

That seems like thats just noise from the clutch pack locating tabs personally. If you have the cover off, you should be checking the backlash between the ring and pinion. Who did your gear install? How long has it been since they were intalled? If you take the side bearing caps off, does the...

    Whiny noise? possibly a bearing?

Its a lot easier if you remove the tranny from the bellhousing before trying to remove the bellhousing.

How are the winter projects coming?

Davis, amazon.com has a little beam style one that i used to do my gears a few weeks back. Its only like 30 bucks or so. Definitely wouldnt do it without one. At least if you do it with the proper tools you wont have to tear the whole thing down again because you werent on target with the specs...

How are the winter projects coming?

Well weve had a nice spell of weather up here in the northeast after all that rain. Unfortunately its been two weeks and my trunk still isnt painted. Though he did weld up the spots where the Ford logo used to be and primed all the parts. Said try back next week :notnice: Oh well. Put on...

How are the winter projects coming?

Didnt get much done today. I was hoping to pick up my painted parts but no luck this week. Guys been busy. Modified my stock battery tray and installed my Optima red top. Very happy with the way it came out. Took my time on the tray and you cant even tell it wasnt designed that way.

How are the winter projects coming?

Put on the new stock replacement rotors in the back. Still really irked the brackets I bought arent the right ones to fit the Cobra rear rotors. They fill up the inside of an 18 inch wheel so much better. Oh well. Did manage to put about thirty miles on the car the other day, sans trunk. Car...

How are the winter projects coming?

Well after a long day, managed to get the gears all done and the car put back together. Really sucks not having a lift. The tooth pattern showed I probably could use .001 to .002 more shim on the pinion but I took it for a short ride and there were no wines and no clunks. The pattern wasnt bad...

How are the winter projects coming?

So after a week of waiting I start in on putting the rear diff back together tonight... only to find out a friend has my two jaw puller so I cant get the companion flange back off after I tightened it down the first time. Im using a solid spacer instead of a crush collar and you have to check...

How are the winter projects coming?

That block looks nice :nice: Wish I had the money this year to do my big engine project (Kenne Bell 2.2L Flowzilla / Blowzilla setup) but it just isnt in the cards with the young one on the way. I figure with the T5 replacing the AODE and the 3.73s replacing the 2.73s, the car should be fun...
