    351 and C4?

Petty vague, but if the C4 is in good shape and the motor is not over 350 or so HP, you should be OK.

Which cylinder heads is the best for 289 CID?

If he really wants 350hp he will need a lot more cam or better heads. Even with good heads 350hp might be tough using that cam.

Secondaries kick in then out right away?

Are you checking it in neutral? Vacuum secondaries will not open w/o load. There is enough in neutral for a split second in neutral but as the rpm goes up, but then they close back.

    Question for nitrous guys.

Post a pic. If they don't interfere or close to to heat they should be fine. I like short metal lines myself.

Which cylinder heads is the best for 289 CID?

Ported stock heads will have a hard time making equal power as 165AFRs. Even IF, and that is a big IF, they flow the same on a bench they will be down on power. Flow benches measure air flowing at a constant rate. Engines flow air starting and stopping. The AFR heads will have a much more...

My Real-World Test with Synthetic Oil

Most Harleys have seperate oil for the engine and the trans/clutch. I have been looking at Joe Gibbs oil for a while and after talking to one of thier reps at a local round track swap meet, I picked up a case of Joe Gibbs Hot Rod synthetic for my car today. It sounds like a good fit for me.

My Real-World Test with Synthetic Oil

I ran automotive Mobil1 in all my bikes. The only thing I saw it that it made them a little grabby. I never had slippage problems though. We ran 2 seasons on a gsxr750 endurance racing with the same clutch. I was ruthless on the clutch at the start of a race too. I usually pushed against...

My Real-World Test with Synthetic Oil

I have had 2 different vehicles that I bought new, drove 5k miles, switched to Mobil1 and gained 30-40 miles per tank. It is more expensive than conventional oil, but more than pays for it's self in fuel savings. I put 200k miles on both and neither needed oil added between changes at 10k...

steer me in the right direction (engines)

Cracks start at the tops of the mains. A Boss 302 is the only production block that has a snowballs chance at 1300hp.

AFR heads, which stamped steel rockers?

I still like the sound of the lifters and the exhaust. Mine has neither and turns no heads at the local cruise in.

steer me in the right direction (engines)

I am thinking about all the weight up front. PS is no biggy for me, but A/C would be nice. I know I'll get mine to hook, but it would be easier with the weight of the turbo in the back. Have you ever tried T4s at the end of shorties like the compounded blower Hellion makes? How is you 67...

I think if I had it to do all over again mine would be in the back.

    351W Build

I would buy a forged crank for internal balance, but not for fear of a cast crank breaking. Internal balancing is a lot easier on the main webs which I beleive is the weak point on a 351 based motor too. We are talking about street/strip, not race engines...right?

steer me in the right direction (engines)

They will never know until it is too late. A flat hood would complete the sleeper status. Nice work and I will vouch for being no fun to make.

steer me in the right direction (engines)

It is a Borg Warner S475. It has the big 96mm turbine and 1.32ar. It should be good for 800 or so horse power w/o pushing it too hard.

AFR heads, which stamped steel rockers?

The fins amplify the sound. I can't believe you can hear it with the hood closed.

steer me in the right direction (engines)

I was just joking about it not being crowded. No new times yet. It is apart right now and waiting on a timing chain. I hope to get it out Sunday, but don't expect too much. I am starting all over with a different carb. It also makes 2 less psi now, but I will be disappointed if it does not...

AFR heads, which stamped steel rockers?

Can you hear them with the hood closed? Maybe your exhaust is too quiet? What valve covers?

steer me in the right direction (engines)

Tighter tolerances? They need looser clearances for pistons and ring gaps. For what the OP wants a stock 5.0 with stock forged pistons will work great. It is well proven that 5.0s will live unmodded at those levels. Crowded?
