    widebands: decisons, decisions

I would look at one that has data logging capability. The fast will not do that. IMO dual sensors is not that important. You could get an extra bung and move it to compare, but I doubt there will be much if any difference. RPM, TPS and MAP sensors will be good info for tuning. Logging will...

Where do I start with tuning this Holley?

I think that a wideband that can datalog is extremely helpfull when tuning a carb. I can see if it is rich or lean when stabbing the throttle. I was able to determine that the pump shot lasted longer than it needed. W/O trial and error I knew I needed less lift on the cam. I could also see...

Does it shoot fuel as soon as the throttle is moved?

Where do I start with tuning this Holley?

If you get a wideband, don't get too hung up on the numbers. Different combos need different A/F ratios for max power. Mine was on the rich side for best performance. Also not all dynos can load a motor enough to get a proper tune. If you try the 50cc pump you will need a yellow or brown cam...

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

Oops! Sometimes it is hard to tell someone's attitude on the net. Sorry for getting defensive.

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

A 1.58 60'. It now has Caltracs and a trans brake. I expect to go a little faster now. And you drive your's to the track 50 miles, let some air out of the tires, race it shifting at 5500, put air in the tires and drive home? On pump gas? How is the rear gear and converter on the...

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

Very little that works on a pro mod or top fueler translates to what works on a street car. If you look at the tire limited classes turbos do just fine even though a lot of classes limit the turbo cars to less cubes and small turbos. Low end tq is no problem with an auto trans and a turbo...

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

I have had my share of loud cars and never got pulled over either. I did exercise a little more restraint because of the noise though. I do miss pulling into the local cruise in with a big cam high compression motor and envy the sound. It is the rest of the time cruising to the track or just...

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

They don't make the exhaust noisy until you push on the loud pedal. I don't know the physics other than maybe more = more fuel = bigger bang in the cylinder. It may have to do with blower cams having earlier opening exhast timing, allowing more blow down. Go to the track. The loudest cars...

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

My point about police is that noise draws attention. If you just putt around it is not a problem. If you blast down the road in my town with a blower just about everyone, about 15000 people, would know. If you were a cop would you look for a car like blown65's or this one.

Anyone use a Weiand 71 series blower?

I think they are noisy and hard to get the exhaust quiet. I prefer to walk quietly and carry a big stick. If you want a head turner nothing says look at me like a big GMC sticking out of the hood. Local law enforcement will notice you too though.

    C4 Transmission Problem

Is it a 70+ C4? It sounds like what goes under the filter on a 70+. With out it in place it will have low line pressure and fry the clutches.

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Those numbers are not .050". The cam only has around .380/.400 lift and 170/174 @ .050". With a cam that small I would use home ported stock heads. Remove the valves and take all the ridges off and imperfections.

    I6 Mods

Just make sure you don't start down the I6 modding road only to find out you really want a V8. It would save time and money to go V8 from the start if that is where you are going to end up anyway.
