    Hmmm...the tech at Maximum said the rubber bushings weren't available separately, only as a part of the lower control arm.

    I did, and prior to that the rack wouldn't budge. Once it did move it would move forward until it touched the hump of the oil pan but that was still about 3/4" too short for me to remove the rear bushings.

    I tried doing this and couldn't get the rack out far enough to replace the rear bushings. The fronts were easy enough to replace but when I pulled the rack forward the plumbing hit the oil pan. I didn't hang the front wheels - I drove up on ramps. Is it necessary to hang the wheels?

    Do the cars with the oem mini-starter have a different fender mounted solenoid? I would like to know that when I need a new starter I can upgrade my 1988 to the mini but I don't think there is another millimeter of usable space on my OEM fender mounted solenoid.

    There seems to be a lot going on. I did replace the tires last year but that would have little to do with the wheel being loose. If I grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and move it I can see the rotor moving inside the caliper but I can also see the lower end of the strut moving with the caliper...

    What do you mean by "that many miles"? 17,800 original, no more. I think that was done already. I'm at 3.1 on the left and 3.3 on the right. At this point I'm guessing the culprit is the wheel bearings. I'll pull and repack those tomorrow and hopefully that will do it.
