    Opinions on MAC Long tubes

Odd, that's like the opposite of what I've heard. Any other input?

    Opinions on MAC Long tubes

Who here runs the Mac longtubes (or 3/4 tubes lol)? What are your opinions on their quality? And anyone have any info on power gains? Does anyone have pictures of them installed? Or better yet, with the Brenspeed X pipe? The ONLY picture I can find is the same stock photo that everyone uses.

    Paranoia.......

The only way that they can tell it is flashed is if they actually read the short term fuel trim or timing tables with the scantool, which they wouldn't do unless you had the car there for a driveability issue.

    Opinions on BMR

I'll be buying some lower control arms and relocation brackets soon. I have a gift card to a place that sells BMR and Spohn. I am 99% sure that the Traktek control arms on my brothers LS1 are made by BMR, but I might be wrong. Are their products pretty decent quality? I would be getting just the...

why did you buy s197 vs. cobra

I wanted a brand new car, I was sick of buying other people's problems. That, and I love the looks and interior of an S197. If I bought a used car, it woulda been an LS1.

Where to Shift RPM wise at the track w/ my mods? DarkFire , anyone??

I trap in 3rd gear at like 6500ish with stock 3.55s and stock tires... I have 4.10s waiting to go in, but I fear they may slow the car down at the track because I wil have to shift into 4th. It will be fun on the street though.

A pick me up for Heavy GT - Glenn

Erin, is he still in intensive care? I just noticed this post is from earlier in the week. But my girlfriend is a nurse in the cardiac ICU at that Hospital, so I wonder if she saw him or anything. then again after open heart he probably would have been in the surgical ICU instead. What is...

Would LCA relocation brackets eliminate/reduce wheelhop ?

How many miles are on your car? Rearend "bouncing" over bumps is more likely a result of worn shock absorbers. Or, it could just be characteristic of a car that has little weight over a heavy solid rear axle. Mine doesn't seem to do that though. The term wheel hop refers to the wheels...

    comp cams anyone?

Yeah, I'm all for chancing the cams, but you have a lot of other things I'd do first, like UDPs, longtubes, gears, suspension stuff, etc. On a side note, I wish some of the people being scared off of cams by the install price were near me, I'd set up a side business doing it haha. That motor...

    Twin Screwed 5.0L for sale

Actually, "screwed" doesn't refer to supercharging in general either. When someone says a car is twin screwed, they mean it has a twin screw supercharger, which is a certain type of supercharger where the two rotors are shaped like interlocking screws, as opposed to a roots supercharger where...

    $3000 - brakes or suspension?

Well, with bolt ons that doesn't really apply because the power gain is moreso just removing stock restrictions. But what would you do to get above your current 316 rwhp, since you are all out of bolt ons? Therin lies the problem with having a tiny engine, once you get to a point you have to...

    $3000 - brakes or suspension?

Pretty much anything you do to add power N/A is going to loose power somewhere in the curve. If there is no loss of low end power at WOT or close to it, that is all that really matters as far as power goes. At part throttle you obviously aren't trying to accelerate too hard, if so then just...

    $3000 - brakes or suspension?

Part throttle power is not as important as part throttle driveability. If you want power, you open the throttle. And I have not heard of anyone having issues with driveability with mild cams. Plenty of people run mild and not so mild cams in daily driven cars with different engines, why...

    O2 sensors & O/R H-pipe

The law varies state by state. They check to see that all of the I/M monitors are passed in the PCM. If your rear 02s are off, the Catalyst monitor will come up as "Not ready". Some states allow one monitor to be not ready, and will pass you. Some states do not, and will reject (not fail...

    $3000 - brakes or suspension?

I always though 40+ horsepower at the wheels was pretty good. Especially since a set of cams costs barely any more than a CAI/Tune.

    O2 sensors & O/R H-pipe

I have never heard of backpressure effecting 02 sensors. And the factory exhaust has almost no restriction anyway. The location of the sensor matters due to temperature and closeness to the engine, but I think they will be fine. I'd get a CAI/tune anyway though for the other benefits.

    NEW PICS!!!!

A New Cobalt SS runs high 13s stock, handles almost as good as a base corvette, and outruns a Subaru WRX and Ralliart Lancer. Stock for stock, it would be a real close race with a stock GT. Same as the Caliber SRT4.

    Maybe I'm overreacting?

You sure it's 2800+? Because it is normal for it to go into fast idle when it's cold, but that shouldn't be more than 1500 RPM at the most.

Manual transmission makes loud bang(s) like something slips when turning

probably a coincidence that it happened right after your brake work, I agree with anthony. Put the rear of the car in the air with the trans in neutral. Grab the driveshaft near the pinion, and see if it has any excessive up/down/left/right play to indicate a pinion bearing or crush collar...
