    Does it still run/idle smoothly? Check the oil to make sure it isn't contaminated as well. I'd power wash the engine as well before inspecting it like Spector said.

    Overdrive Shifting

    I don't see where there would be any negative impact based on the computer monitored RPMs. In fact, the TransGo shift kit allows you to shift into any gear 1-3, and O/D up or down, but will not down shift from O/D if I push a lot fo RPMs and try to shut it off.

    The only way to trick the computer that I know of, would be to get it reburned. My guess is that it would cost as much to do that as replace the air pump.
