    Piston choices

The grind of the cam also affects your effective compression...my 11:1 compression 351W originally had a mild cam with very little overlap and my compression was 225psi. It wouldn't run right on anything short of race gas! When I was living in San Diego, I had Crower grind a custom cam...

Pine needles in cowl vent. Anyone know how to remove?

yep, lots of water and air with the fenders off...I've been trying to figure out how to remove the peeling paint from my Mach 1's cowl so I can POR-15 it and top coat it before it ends up like a '60s Mustang with a leaky cowl.

Signs of a stretched clutch cable?

The clutch cable also has about 3" worth of adjustment available...I'd be surprised if it stretched too far to be corrected by adjusting, without breaking.

    One El-Kabonged Detroit Locker

My 9" trac-lok left me stranded like that last year...it wasn't even obvious when I pulled the pumpkin out. The spider gear carrier had broke in half so the ring gear just spun freely even though it was still bolted down. That was just from the tires hooking up a couple times too many.

    Lost My Gas Gauge

and if you need a new sending unit, you just missed one on ebay, without a float, for $78....Ouch...I know because I was looking for one since I pulled apart one that was almost rusted to nothing, and two that had loose wires in them that would make the float stick.

    1978 Mustang II For Sale....MachI???

He's probably just adding key words for people searching. The Mach 1 base engine was a V6. The price is right so far, just too bad it's the wrong coast.

    quarter mile times anyone?

Some altitude would probably help with my traction problems. You also must remember the car was built for corners as much as straights, there's very little weight transfer to the rear, and it's actually cammed pretty mild (smooth idle). Peak HP is at 5000rpm and peak torque at 3800rpm with a...

    quarter mile times anyone?

Serious traction problems, slow shifting....the tremec doesn't like to be shifted fast and I'd rather shift slow instead of missing a shift.

    '76 Cobra II 4 cyl??

LXXVICOBRA stumbles across it and I see it for my first time... Yes, I have a 400+ GOAL HP 2.3L coupe garage queen that is currently in the nightmarish process of getting a header + big enough turbo & intercooler to support 400+HP. Still doing research on what I'm going to do to the EFI...

    ebay again

'76 - early '77 V8 should always have no filler on the radiator, and have a filler inline with the upper hose. Not sure if that started with '75 or not, but it did end in mid '77 and only was like that in the V8 cars.

    ebay again

seems right to me...2.8L V6 ... cold air intake is on the driver's side, so the overflow is either non-existant or on the passenger side (I don't remember which). The 2.8L also always had the filler on top of the radiator. The braces are in all the T-Top cars.

    Coil spring compressor

Amazing how many different ways this gets done. I undo the upper control arms, put the springs in, then use a jack to compress the springs and re-attach the upper control arms. Of course my method is a PITA when it comes to reattaching the upper control arms. Last I remember, spring...
