Can't get over my V8 envy.

I had the same dilemma, Merlin. V6 or GT? I wondered if I really needed that "extra" power, if it was worth the additional 4 or 5 grand. Well let me tell you, deciding to go with the GT was the absolute correct decision. The sound of it is amazing! I really don't see why anyone would need to...

    I take the plunge tomorrow

Well, I guess I will have to learn to love it! In a somewhat ironic twist, that's exactly what I ended up getting: a Lime Green GT! :D The dealer had two GTs on the lot that he was willing to sell at the X-Plan price. One was Torch Red and the other Lime Green. I looked at both and decided...

    I take the plunge tomorrow

Haha! I knew there'd be some Lime fans on here! Well, nothing's wrong with the color except I just don't like it. In fact, I had real trouble trying to decide which color I wanted. It doesn't really matter though... I'll most likely end up having it painted anyways.

    I take the plunge tomorrow

I'm not sure if they'll let me buy one off the lot using the X-Plan. I emailed the salesman and told him I wanted a GT and that I had X-Plan and he responded saying that he had a couple on the lot they would "consider" selling. He probably means the two Lime Green ones they have. :notnice:

    I take the plunge tomorrow

Yes, I will be watching out for this. For some reason, I used to actually give car salesmen the benefit of the doubt, thinking that they simply couldn't be as bad as they're portrayed in movies and jokes. Haha... yeah, I was naive. Anyways, now that I KNOW that they're indeed low-life...

    I take the plunge tomorrow

After dreaming about buying a Mustang ever since they came out last year, I am finally ready to go get one for myself. I have an appointment at a local Ford dealership for tomorrow, which means I could be 24 hours away from having my very own Pony! As for what I plan on getting, I...

    Rental experience with V6 convertible

Yeah, I was seriously surprised at the V6's rapid acceleration. Even so, though I thought I was gonna get a V6 in the past, I'm pretty sure I'll step up to the GT now. There's too many things it has that the V6 doesn't (TLOK, dual exhaust, the power of course). 90 more horses... it's gonna be...

    Rental experience with V6 convertible

AFAIK, I had it first. I'm gonna have to change it now that Mickey's co-opted it! ;)

    Rental experience with V6 convertible

Yeah, it was definitely the Shaker 500. And like I said, the sound itself was fine. Covered the inevitable noises from a convertible very nicely! :) But the interface was simply ghetto. Also, it's kind of weird to have the old style gauges in the dash, but a modern-looking (if a bit plain)...

    Rental experience with V6 convertible

Yeah, the Charger with its 4 doors and "normal-sized" backseats is the more practical buy... but when it comes to looks, the Mustang is leagues ahead in my book. Still, if I had a family and a bit more cash to spend, I can't say that I wouldn't consider the Charger. I'd probably be more likely...

    Rental experience with V6 convertible

Took a trip down to California for Thanksgiving and at the airport, got offered a Mustang V6 convertible. I figured it would be a good way to get an extended test drive, so I took it. My overall impressions: WOW! What impressed me most about the car was its pure willingness to just GO. The...

Is the Pony Package worth it?

Awesome, Blu. :nice: Make sure you post some pictures when you get it.

    Pics at Last!

Oh yeah, I learned that lesson early on in driving. ALWAYS look over the shoulder. Oh, and signal too. WAY too many people "forget" to do that. :D I also try to avoid changing lanes on the freeway when a car is parallel with me in the lane next to the one I want to get into. I usually just...

Well, I've always been raised with the idea that "more expensive" means "better". And since the JBAs are definitely more expensive than the Magnaflows, I just assumed they'd be the better buy. At the very least I'd think they'd be of better quality. I want to get duals too for my forthcoming...

Car looks great. :nice: As far as your "planned mods" go, what caused you to choose JBA over Magnaflow? That sound clip of the JBA on StangNet's Parts page doesn't sound all the great to me (haven't heard them live though).

Is the Pony Package worth it?

Does the GT come with a Limited Slip Differential standard? And if it does, do you know if it's fluid or mechanical-based? Also, how much would it cost to get a differential installed in a V6? Seems like it would be some major money.

Is the Pony Package worth it?

I'm a little uncomfortable with the grille as well. Mostly the silver line of metal (or is it plastic!) that connects the fog lights and forms the "corral" around the pony. I think it looks a little cheap. But I think I've found a solution: I'm just gonna paint the pieces I don't like black...

Is the Pony Package worth it?

Understand, Pliskin. And I have thought about the GT, a lot. But in the end, it just doesn't make sense for me from a financial point of view. $4k may not seem like much, but it's significant to me. Add on the fact that I plan on getting the Street Scene body kit and window tinting and that $4K...

Is the Pony Package worth it?

I understand your dilemma, Merlin, cause I've gone through it myself. But there's simply too many advantages to buying the V6 over the GT for me. Obviously the basic difference in sticker price is a factor. The significant difference in insurance rates is also something I've considered. One of...
