    It depends on what you want. If your looking for better dependability in a Sports car, get the 350Z. If you want value, get the Mustang GT. If you want brute accelaration, get either the Z28 or SS. The LS1 cars are faster, but less reliable.

    Well, the garden variety 1989 LX ran 14.7ish. With just minor bolt on's, intake, gears, slicks and exhaust this car would run 12.56? It does seem a little weird, cosidering my '02 GT with similar mod's was only running 13.6

    Not to flame, but it's hard to believe your (25th's) LX 5.0 is two seconds quicker then stock with just those mod's. Good job, your an awesome driver with the wind at your back ;)

    Back in 1998, when GM dummped the LS1's in the Trans Am's and Camaro's, it spelled doom for us. The LT1's were hard enough to contend with. Chevy did everything right with the LS1 BUT I think the next Cobra will be an awesome LS1 contender.

    Yeah, something's not right there. Your Mach is running [email protected] and you pulled ahead of a black Trans Am after 50mph? :lol: I don't mean to flame, but the LS1 is in it's power band at those speeds and easily leaves GT's behind (and a Mach running 13.8). A well documented fact.

    I think he was talking STOCK for STOCK. Even the new '05 Mustang GT is still Slower then the old LS1's. Not by much, but after 3rd gear, the STOCK LS1 pulls even harder against a STOCK GT. You can modify any car to go faster, but right out of the box, the LS1's are still faster. I can...

    I was talking bolt-On's. Of course if you work below Valve Covers, a GT will be in stock LS1 territory. The point is, a GT needs major mod's to compete with the old LS1's. I know, because I still get me Azz beat by LS1's, especially after 2nd gear.

    Your going to need a Supercharger to keep up with an LS1. So figure, $4,000.00 will put you next to a stock Trans Am. the problem is almost all LS1'a are modded, so it make sit harder for us to catch up. Oh, they also have Corvette engine and Tranny. Not slow...

    Yes, you should go with the SLP for Quality. On the LS1 thing, they are usually a couple of tenths faster then the Mach. The general rule is Some LS1's can be as "slow" as 13.6, while most with free mod's drop to 13.4ish. If an LS1 has an Air lid and exhaust, it will be in the high 12's...

    Figure the Trans Am or Camaro is about a Full second quicker then a Mustang GT. A supercharger will put your car in there league.

    like comparing oranged and Apples. M3 is a performance car where as a Cobra is a muscle car. if you want to compromoise betweeen the too, get an LS1 Vette.

    First Race with LS1

    My friend picked up an old '98 Camaro LS1 for $7,000.00 and it ran 13.1 without any modification. With free mod's. and exhaust, it's in the 12's easy. Those LS1's are bad ass and pull like all hell after 2nd gear.
