    Weekend trip to Chincoteague, VA

Nice pictures Kooldawg..... Did you head out to see the running of the horses? Seems a bit early for it, but Chincoteague is always beautiful. That being said, last time I was there it was something rediculous like 108 degrees outside. Your car is looking great BTW.... One day I aspire to...

    Shell Gas

There is a station here in Richmond that always carries 5 different octanes of gas at the same time. Unfortunately I don't remember the brand of gas, only that it is attached to a 7-11. Occasionally during the summer they even sell 112 octane fuel, for some odd reason. It is on the opposite...

    Mustang fuel tank safety?

As bigcat said, it is now federal law that the tank has to be in front of the rear axle. That being said, it should minimise any damage from being rear ended, but you'll never completely remove the threat of a tank leaking after a collision. I haven't heard of any issues regarding this with...

    Doors automatically locking when driving?

I really wish that my manual locked automatically after moving like most all other Ford vehicles do. When I consider the neighborhood that I drive through to get to work, I make sure that the doors are locked before I moved, regardless of where I'm going.... Just taking a stab here, but it...

    3V Spark plug change hell

I haven't touched mine yet, but I am afraid to... I think I'll have to pull them soon and slather on the anti-seize. But seriously, why did they have to mess with a good thing? The spark plug has been around for what, at least 120 years? Now Ford comes along, thinking they have a better...

HOW TO: Changing Factory LEDs in your S197 Mustang

Fantastic write up! Despite my engineering degree, with a good amount of electronics, I still wouldn't think of attempting this. Luckily, I don't have much of a problem with the stock green. But being a biomedical engineer, I can commend you on choosing blue. While some may say that it is...

    Need Suspension Help

Not meaning to flame here at all...but if you think thats the case, you can kiss it goodbye if you cut those springs. Again, no hard feelings here, just trying to help. From my engineering background, just sell the springs, and get some others with a larger drop if you're really that...

    Need Suspension Help

Even after a month and a half, I'd give them a few more weeks to help settle. The best thing to do at this point is wait.... it can't hurt at all. Secondly, did you do any actual measurements before and after, as well as recently to see the true amount of drop you got front and back? When...

    head bolts

on most engines, head bolts are torque to yield, meaning that yes, they need to be replaced after being removed. I don't have a specific source available in front of me, but there are two good places to check. First, it you only have minor modifications, get some new bolts from ford. The...

Horrible Gas Mileage! I need help!

I'm surprised that nobody else has mentioned this, but if you do not have a tune in the car to run 91 octane (which it sounds like you don't) this is your problem.... Higher octane fuel burns slower than a lower octane. A higher octane fuel such a 91 or 93 gives you the ABILITY to make more...

What Owning a Mustang is All About

sounds like a lot of fun.... I know that I still can't wait to find a free weekend to make a pilgrimage to the tail of the dragon, only a few hours from me. For those that haven't heard of the "tail of the dragon", check it out here, http://tailofthedragon.com/ 318 turns, in just slightly...

    Fog light problem solved

I've only been flashed once, despite using all four lights at all times. Even when I flash my high beams, he still continued to flash me back (we were at a light). I guess he was just an A-hole. In any case, it could be just rough roads that make cars flash you. I can't tell you how many...

    What I Would Change...

As far as creature comforts are concerned, I could care less. I consider my mustang to be a muscle car. By definition, they are supposed to do one thing only..... scare you *****less in a straight line, which mine still does from time to time. They aren't supposed to be comfortable, handle...

    Under Hood Mods (PICS)

Looks good, I personally wouldn't spend the money on all those caps, but they do look much better. About the hood struts though... did you have to re-align the hood after putting them on? I've been looking at them for a while, but I dread the thought of aligning body panels, which is one of...

Joining the S197 crowd (lots of pics)

Congrats on the new car! Hope to see some of your future mods, as I'm sure they'll be nice. That being said, I can't believe you got a picture of the fire of your old one. If that happened to me, I don't think I'd be in the frame of mind to grab my camera... I'd be peeing on the hood, or...

    Plastic burning smell????

I was going to say the exact same thing. You probably won't notice plastic hanging off of the muffler/cats/pipes, but if you inspect it closely, sometimes its melted on there. Annoying? Sure, but it should burn off after a few thousand miles.
