    12" Subwoofer Enclosures

well i figured out how to fit... ONE JL 12w7 in the trunk - sealed box size of 14(h)x13(d)x21.5(w) external dimensions should drop right in the trunk, and made out of 1" MDF, will provide exactly the net internal volume recommended by JL. I may play with the dimensions a bit to see if I can...

    12" Subwoofer Enclosures

I've come to the conclusion... That I'm going to have to make my own box - gotta make it to the MFR's volume specifications, and finagle the dimensions around so that I can get it in and out of the trunk if needed. I'm going with 1 12" w7 I think - that way I'm not giving up anything over...

Need Help Adding JL 10W7 to Mach 460 - I Have The MW Article...

metra makes... an "amp integrator plug" for MACH systems - Part number 70-5519 - don't know if this would work for you, but I'd call 'em and ask. Why cut & splice data cables if ya don't have to :-) ?

    BEGINNER WITH STEREO'S. NEED ADVICE

It is an excellent article with no bias - IOW it's an article on how to approach adding aftermarket sound - not a review of equipment - of course they name some manufacturers, but the ones that they do name are those you'd want to explore... As an example, they make the point that the...

    BEGINNER WITH STEREO'S. NEED ADVICE

I strongly.... would advise you to pick up the June 2004 issue of Mustang Enthusiast magazine - there is a *fabulous* article on building a stereo system for your Mustang. That said - Find a local audio dealer (preferably one that does home theater AND car audio) - I recommend you stay...

    Would I lose my fader?

Most likely - yes But it may depend upon what brand headunit you're using - I know with most (if not all) major brands it works just fine.

    alpine cda9820xm

CDA-9820XM I thought seriously about this head unit myself, but it *wasn't right* for my applications. The CDA-9820XM doesn't has, imho the following shortcomings - whether they're important to *you* is what matters: 2 sets of pre-outs instead of 3 pre-outs are 2V no HP filter or LP...

    WHATS BETTER

Thanks, Keith I can't see the pictures cuz your IP range is blocked by my company's firewall...ugh - i'll see 'em when I get home this evening. I've got some "stuff" that I need to move before I can make the investment - but it's coming soon <g> - I'm just afraid I'll bite on the 12w7...

    WHATS BETTER

12w6v2 How do you like that sub? I'm seriously thinking of dumping my 2-10" Polk MOMO's (ugh) - and moving to a single JL 12w6v2 in a sealed box - actually thinking of buying the sealed ProWedge from JL. It'll fit (just!), and give me lots of my trunk back - a second alternative is the JL...

    No Stereo

Interesting stuff... It's possible. Others have told you exactly how. But... Although possible, you should consider simple laws of physics - more important is newtons law of inertia... Home stereo equipment is heavy, and in the car would NOT be secured. In event of sudden...

Ground loop buzz...CANT FIX IT, HELP!

Interesting theory - buy why? What's magic about 3/4? My Alpine goes from 0-35 - When using pre-outs only, distortion of the unit isn't noticable until around 32-33. Measuring output voltage (flat) using pink noise at 0db, and a fluke DMM with true RMS shows 4v RMS output right at 32 - that's...

Ground loop buzz...CANT FIX IT, HELP!

Sounds like you've found the problem - and I'd set the gains properly (using a dynamic CD in the hu, turn gains all the way down and increase volume on head unit until it distorts - then back off the HU volume until it's clean - that's your maximum volume u should use - now, keeping h/u at that...

    WHATS BETTER

my take IMHO - properly built and tuned ported enclosures will be substantially louder than a sealed box "at or near the tuned frequency." This is the preferred setup for SPL competition. For non-competition, I prefer a sealed box built to the subwoofer manufacturer's specs - to my ears...
