Unreal, Like The Dealership (major Duw!!!)

Good points, Sal....and basically quite correct too. My initial post about the cluster had me thinking exactly the same from the start about car's vintage (hence the initial question which you've verified)... just the chrome trim had me wondering a bit, so I thought I'd throw my thoughts about...

Unreal, Like The Dealership (major Duw!!!)

Folly, the black seatbelts came with the standard interior, regardless of interior color. Sal, what indicated to you that it was an early '77, before seeing the door tag? Brian, I was thinking similarily about the decal placement being incorrect. I thought however, the were usually placed...

Unreal, Like The Dealership (major Duw!!!)

Looks clean, no doubt about it. And it might be the only II I've ever seen that the glove box door actually closes properly! Never paid much attention to the 80mph speedometer gauge units in general, but always thought the kmp/h designations were only on post '76 cars? I'm guessing this car...

    Exhaust time

I would respond similarily about the old Cyclone Sonic Turbo's I've had on my car for 20+ years now. Seems the get better with age too! I'm probably due for new exhaust next year as well however, and am also interested in hearing the responses to this thread, especially in regard to the H versus...

if you could go back to january of 73....

Add a couple of inches to the wheelbase, and make 14" wheel standard.

My turn for a dash light problem.

I'm not certain, but I think that black/yellow wire might go to the underhood lamp. Why it's located where it is on your car, I don't know. I don't see that plug/connection on my car (there)....but perhaps because mine is an 8cyl, it's routed differently? This B-Y wire runs from the starter...

    Paint Delamination

Update to my post above... The cars I mentioned with delamination in the cowl area actually may have been repainted as well, on second thought. Sorry for not indicating that before. I'm not sure if (or why) your quest for obtaining info on this subject is limited to 1995 and older...

    Paint Delamination

Since my car has been repainted at one time, I cannot really give you a speciffic example in entirety. However, as an original owner of my II, (and someone that is old enough to remember these cars when new and used as everyday transportation), I can say that I don't recall this being a great...

    The Cobra II Lives!

Yes. Being a closed system, the overflow tube should extend into the coolant within the bottle to keep air out and siphon coolant back in if necessary. For as long as this car has been sitting, a complete flush of the system is certainly in order. Along with that, replacement of the...

    Your First II

The great bicentennial year, 1976. :flag: Here's to baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and FORD Mustang II's! :hail2:

2005 SVT Cobra... if there was one (discussion)

Your opinion about what the "real point" is, is of course, your opinion. As is the fact, you believe that I "missed the point". That's OK, it's certainly possible you could be right on both counts. But, since you aren't the poster I responded to, we can't be sure you haven't missed it as...

    Fastback Hatch Gap?

My point, exactly. Even this one isn't exactly perfect, but wow is this car ever nice regardless! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-Cobra-II-Original-1977-Mustang-Cobra-II-T-Top-V-8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6236QQitemZ4569842191QQrdZ1

    Fastback Hatch Gap?

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has this thought! I always thought that it might add some stuctural integrity to the car too. In any case, I'm not sure why the spoiler would be an issue?

    Fastback Hatch Gap?

It would seem to me, that getting the gap "even" all around, would be what you would be striving for in an ideal world....regardless of what the final gap measurement actually was. You have to work with the hatch and opening you have, which may vary a bit from car to car. I do believe however...

    Fastback Hatch Gap?

I've often wondered if welding the whole damn thing shut wouldn't be such a bad idea! In any case, I imagine it's surely going to take a certain amount of trial and error which would likely include making adjustments to the latch mechanism as well, in order to get it just right. Clearly...

I wonder if that hood ornament would work on my Cobra? :D

Real-live 4 cyl Cobra II on ebay

Agreed...and clearly it's always the owners choice whether to modify or not. In this instance, I suggested not doing so, simply because of the uniqueness of this particular powertrain in the Cobra II model. In fact, when you think about it, it's not too common seeing any 4cyl II's running...

Real-live 4 cyl Cobra II on ebay

This could be a viable option as well, making for increased performace without radically changing the package as a whole. Racer Walsh Inc. could probably help you out here, and they have a long history in regard to modding these engines, along with other performance equiptment used on the II's...

Real-live 4 cyl Cobra II on ebay

Well, I hinted at it earlier...parhaps I better make it more clear. For the most part, it's inevitable that you will get your share of being "crapped on" by many in the "classic" crowd, just like the rest of us. You may even get it just a little worse, preceisly on account of your Cobra...

Real-live 4 cyl Cobra II on ebay

Easier than finding parts for the total V8 conversion, for the most part. The II was never designed from its inception to have a V8 engine and drivetrain. As such, more than a few specific parts for V8 drivetrains are in much shorter supply, also due in part to a shorter production run...
