    What year explorer? 3 bars on the end of the head are gt40s, 4 bars are P heads. 96 have gt40 heads, maybe some 97 do, but most 97 and up have the P heads.

    Stock cam with 1.7s should be fun. Are they P heads or reg 3 bar gt40s? P heads can be had for real cheap, gt40s normally are 100-200 more. Performance wise, I think the P heads are better. But both are good. Just many frown upon having to use different headers with the P heads.

    Piecing it together you can save cash where you can, and spend the little extra to make the parts better. I believe though that summit owns trickflow, they would add/delete from the package to make it what you needed. If I bought trickflow heads, I would definitely opt for the track heat ones...

    Cylinder heads from afr, trickflow, or edelbrock. Also get the lower intake ported and matched to the heads while its apart. Alot you could do, are those the only two aftermarket parts you have?

    I dont know all the figures into figuring compression, but with a stock non 86 motor, with a .39 head gasket, should be about 9.5 to 1.

    Extremely frustrated!!!!

    This a stock upper intake? If so, they can be bought really cheap, so messing one up shouldnt be bad. If its a 65mm throttle body, it wont hurt, if its bigger than that, your probably loosing some power. Buying some new plastic/rubber at the auto parts store is cheap, simple to fix the vacuum lines.
