Thanks, I'll check this evening after work. It is the stock distributor so hopefully, I'll be fine. Once I put the oil pump, pickup, and pan, on I can set it back into the car and start hooking stuff up. Exciting stuff!
I got my engine back from the machine shop yesterday and began installing components this evening. The shop did most the disassembly for me so I didn't get to personally take of many of the parts.... including the oil pump. They gave me a new pump and pickup. Where does the stick thing go? I...
I don't think the order of the top/interior matters much. You definitely want to do the paint first, though. If you do the top after the paint, then you might have more room maneuvering inside the car while putting the top on. The top shouldn't get in the way of the interior installation at...
Ahh, makes sense. Any chip recommendations? I'm assuming the car doesn't have a burnable chip in it. The previous owner never mentioned anything like that to me.
I'm about to put my new 306 back in my car and have put 30# injectors in it. There haven't been too many mods: GT40 heads, Ecam, 65mm TB. Will the injectors just not be fully utilized in my application or will they actually decrease performance because they are too big? Can injectors be TOO BIG?
Hoorah! The engine shop just called and said that my new 306 is getting its balance right now. They expect to have it assembly and ready for me later today or early tomorrow at the latest. Probably take a day or two to get it back in the Fox and then I'll post some pics up for everyone. Ahh...
The easiest way to check for spark is to pull a wire off the spark plug, stick a screwdriver in the plug wire and then turn the car over while holding the metal part of the screwdriving close to the crankcase. You should see a little blue spark jump the gap from the screwdriver to the engine...
Ya, you don't have to transfer funds into your account. It'll just pull from your bank account.
Just outta curiousity, what you buying? Some parts for the stang?
Thanks guys! I just ordered a set of solid motor mounts. Do I have to change the trans mount as well or should everything line up? The rubber trans mount on the car looks brand new.
The rubber mounts on my car are pretty rough looking and since the motor is already out, I'm thinking I may as well change them before I put the motor back in (ET next week). Rubber ones seem to be less susceptible to weather (Michigan has some rough weather for sure), poly seem to be a bit...
Prolly cost you more than its worth to have all them holes filled. I assume you had a deck lid with the luggage rack? How many holes are there exposed now that would need filling? I've thought about taking the luggage rack off mine and filling the holes but seems there are a lot of fasteners...
Sounds decent, noobie! What heads did they port/polish? I'd take a guess and say you're looking at around 260rwhp the way it sits. Post for pics up for us to see!!!
Anyone have thoughts on upgrading to the 3G alternator? Is it really that necessary? The only extra electronic equipment I have in my car is a CD player and soon-to-be electric fan....
