    Time for a rebuild

Is the car using coolant? Are there bubbles in the radiator when the car is running? Is the oil milky colored? Did you remove ALL the spark plugs before you tested compression? Quick enough?

    My Senior Project

I'd strongly recommend that you establish a $$$$$$$ budget before you get carried away. If it is a "senior project" you're "under the gun" time-wise. June is not all that far away.

    Classic steering problem?

"Grease on thew ball joint"? Hmmm..... It would appear thet the steering is binding. I'd be reluctant to adjust the steering box unless I KNEW that was the problem. What is the condition of the tie rod ends, idler arm, ball joints, etc. Recommend that you NOT experiment with solutions.

Help me understand the difference between a DISAGREEMENT and an ARGUEMENT

rbohm: Name calling and profanity are often the last retreat of the people that have LOST the arguement. They have simply run out of the vocabulary to express themselves more adequately. IMO, people who do this constantly have an inferiority complex and, in my experience, they are 100%...

Help me understand the difference between a DISAGREEMENT and an ARGUEMENT

Bartman: OK, I read that there is agreement on the difference. Why then is disagreement seen as "malice" when it runs contrary to one's opinion? I believe that I disagreed in the six/V-8 swap thread but I gave reasons which were blown off as "arguement" by some. Malice is a word with...

Help me understand the difference between a DISAGREEMENT and an ARGUEMENT

The trend here is to see any disagreement as an arguement which has a very negative conotation to many posters. I say disagreement is a healthy and productive response if it is based on sound reasoning and experience. Why do we have to agree to make a valid response? Can't ANYTHING be...

What are the differences between idler arms?

Some idler arms have a bushing that might be missing. Obviously, something is NOT right. Often, after-market parts are made "off-shore" and they are slightly different than OEM components. I'd have to see it to judge.

    "Gentlemen, statr your MOTORS!"

Naw, ZZtop! Billy Gibbons is an old car guy. Boyd Coddington has built him some great customs including "Cadzilla". "Sharp Dressed Man", "Planet of Women" etc. are typical of ZZ's tunes! Great crusin' music! BTW, ZZTop is out of Texas as well! (I'd best stop or you'll think I'm...

please explain to me the big deal about a six cylinder to larger engine swap?

Thanks! You might want to know that I own other vehicles besides an old "stock as a rock" Mustang. Performance is NOT unknown in my stable. :D

    Gas Caps??

Simple: A "flip-down" cap is considered dangerous because, if a car is hit in the rear, the cap often "flips" open and the tank spews gasoline. A "twist-on" cap is not nearly as likely to do so. Retailers are reluctant to sell them for liability reasons.

    New Forum for Stangnet?

Since when does a disagreement become an arguement? I sometimes disagree with my wife but I don't argue with her. (We've been happily married for 42 years). As previously observed. a forum is a place for free discussion of ideas and issues; both positive AND negative. If we separate into...

    Time for a rebuild

"Burns tons of white smoke at idle"? "Doesn't die down"? White smoke is usually water vapor caused by an internal coolant leak into the crankcase or combustion chambers. Better determine what is happening before you tear it apart.

please explain to me the big deal about a six cylinder to larger engine swap?

Measure the "pumpkin" of the differential. BTW, you might read my posts #4 & #6 in which I ENCOURAGE you to make the six/V-8 swap IF you realize what you are getting into. For being 15 years old (as you said on another thread), you have a lot of faith in your ability and finances IMO.

    Time for a rebuild

Gottcha, L-man 66coupe: You are overlooking valve leakage? 120 PSI on ALL cylinders suggests a gauge or test procedure problem rather than rings/pistons problems. Normally there will be a variation of compression reading rather than a constant reading (like 120 PSI). Replacing the...

    The Simple Things In Life

A nice Mustang can be a wonderful source of fun, pride and pleasure. I've owned 14 '65-'66 Mustangs over the past thirty years and I've yet to tire of them. (Although I've never considered them to be a focal point in my life) The convertible in my avatar is #2 of the 14 and it still "lives"...

    New Forum for Stangnet?

If you read the responses, seems to me we've pointed out the problems that you'll encounter. I've suggested that you read the Mustang magazines for a detailed and illustrated explanation. If you want someone to hold your hand and explain how it can be done you'd be better off reading the...
