    Maybe I should have been more clear. All I have for the V8 is the clutch set, flywheel, and bellhousing. Will the shift fork, and related linkage from the 4 banger work for me?

    I think I need to find a 79-82 roller, and throw all the parts from my car on it, due to inspections. I haven't had an inspection since Sept of '05. I haven't had the car off the road longer than a month since March of '04. Yea, two inspection sticker tickets later, it still won't pass.

    I have the 4 banger tranny, and a V8 bellhousing. Can I swap the clutch fork and everything in/on the bellhousing from the 4cyl to the V8 bellhousing? I already have a V8 clutch set, flywheel, TOB, and conversion pilot bearing. I wouldn't be asking, but I don't have the 4 cyl bell...

    I thought that as long as you use an engine from the same year, or newer, it would pass inspection. Didn't any of the late 80's E/F 2/3/4/550's have a carbed motor?

    On a later 4 cylinder car, that would signal that the DIS module would be on its way out. On your 5.0, the TFI module on the dizzy would be my first guess, knowing that they have a tendency to go bad.

    Painting Upper intake, valve covers - Tips?

    clean them well, I use carb cleaner, sand the smooth areas, and paint. High temp clear coat is excellent at laying flat, so the painted parts are easier to wash off, and stay looking cleaner longer.

    I like the reusable VC gaskets with the metal reinforcement. I usually just get the felpro intake pack with the upper to lower gasket... I have 5-8 laying around, I usually reuse the same gasket everytime.

    Good idea. Maybe use some fiberglass to make the letters look inset about a half inch, then put the lights behind that, or put some plexiglass behind it, and then the lights. Do you ever go to Hickory?

    Which 5.0's had a standard rotation water pump?

    I got a WP for a 85 Stang and a WP pulley for a 85 Thunderbird. The WP is standard rotation and the pulley has grooves in it. I would assume you could use a WP for an 85 Thunderbird also, though.

    Question About Welders/Welding

    I've been using the Hobart Handler 140, with flux core .030. It has done great to shave the engine bay, and weld up exaust pipes. It also comes with a regulator if you want to hook up gas later. It sells at Northern Tool for about $465 I think, I got mine NIB for $400 shipped off Ebay though.

    Sounds like you got it pretty much covered. Tell the guy at AZ to go to the back and get you "Autolite 25's", they should have them in stock, doesn't matter if he can find them in the CPU. I'd clean the MAF, and get a new air filter, along with changing the oil and checking your suspension...

    3 pulley set up for new motor

    I am doing the same thing. I got a WP for a 85 Mustang and a pulley for a 85 (I think) Thunderbird, from Autozone. The WP is standard rotation, and the pulley is ribbed for a serp. setup. I am also getting the $20 adj. alt. bracket from Summit.
