There was a chap that raced a 95 3.8 here at the local track many years ago. He had a built bottom end, ported stock heads, a custom cam, and a huge turbo. It was fairly fast. He spent a fortune on it though. How much power are you looking for?
Putting a set of heads on isn't that difficult, as long as you take your time and pay attention. I learned that the hard way many years ago. Something's it's just better to take your time with.
That makes a big difference. I always used Buck racing to do all of mine. He was rude, short tempered and a genius. And he was a thirty minute drive. Having contact is always a key.
