    Official Tremec 3650 Issues Thread

Yesterday was in the upper 40's to low 50's. The amount installed was 3 liters(3.4qts.) which is what I was just told to use as the "proper" fill by a Tremac engineer. Not sure if I mentioned it before but I too, had the TSB performed back in early spring. The trans seemed perfect initially but...

    Official Tremec 3650 Issues Thread

Okay, here's the latest. Had the fluid changed today. Took out the Dextron and put in the GM Synchromesh fluid. Only drove it for maybe 20min. but so far, it seems to have made a big difference. Still not 100% but this may be as good as it's going to get. I've resigned myself to the fact that...

    2002 GT manual transmission help.

The recommended fluid is Dextron III and the fill is 3 liters (that's about 3.3qts I believe). They came with a factory fill of Mobil 1 but SHOULD NOT be using that. Synthetic is not recommended from what I understand.

    Official Tremec 3650 Issues Thread

Just got off the phone with TTC. The tech gave me a couple things to check on my car. He wants to know which Ford TSB the local dealer performed on my car, what fluid's in it, and how much. We had a good conversation about the transmission, and what their update kits have been pursuant to Ford's...

    Official Tremec 3650 Issues Thread

Mine is an '03 Centennial Edition. Got it last Christmas and within a couple week, noticed the grinding 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Tried switching to a B&M shifter, made no real difference. Took it to the dealer twice and finally they performed the TSB. Seemed better for a short while but gradually got...

Changing brake pads: Do you turn the rotors?

I do pads and rotors together. Cars like these tend to be driven hard and that taxes the brakes. Cutting rotors reduces mass which reduces the efficiency of the system in general so to me it's a no-brainer on a Mustang to do them together.

How did you get started working on cars?

Got that beat. I got known in the fleet industry as being such a detail guy that I used to have most companies either avoid me totally at trade shows, or bring me over to look over their cars for them. On top of that, I even got hired by one company to shape up their quality control, and one big...

How did you get started working on cars?

Ain't that the truth! I'm the same way. My problem is that I tend to get bored with the project when it's almost done. I can't tell you how many cars I've sold once I reached the 99% point or just after finishing them.

How did you get started working on cars?

Started tearing apart my mom's appliances when I was a kid in the 60's and it just kept going from there. Now, I'm a retired ASE Master Tech, ex-fleet manager, ex-shop owner, ex-engine builder, ex-car/bike builder with a few toys to keep me busy.

So I've heard 4.10's with an automatic, 3.73 with manual but why?

Not being a Mustang "expert", I'd have to limit my comments to a more "general" nature. If the gear ratios posted here are correct, I'd say it shows that the manual trans can handle 4.10's better than the auto. Personally, I think 3.73 is the "perfect" ratio for "most" N/A street cars. I also...

Doc's PB in the Ford Police Interceptor - Vid!!!

It's funny how people think those police cars are fast. They're nice, solid cars but DEFINATELY NOT fast. My Cadillac ran that kind of E/T BEFORE my mods many years ago. Now it's running low to mid 14's. So how'd the Z run?

    MIL?

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp Same as a CEL (Check Engine Light) Your car is OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics gen. II) and it will monitor a number of performance parameters. If any show a problem, the system illuminates the CEL. In some cases, the system switches to a programmed in "default"...

    Alternator Questions...

Maybe. Or it could manifest itself as weak performance in an accessory, dim headlights or possibly an undercharged battery.

    Alternator Questions...

I'm not so sure that's a good idea. By the looks of the wire sizes, you're only connecting a rather small wire and it won't be able to carry a very big load.
