    302 won't stay running

That's possible in some areas of the country. Around here the government has taken kickbacks from ADM and now they mandate that ethanol be added to our fuel. The ethanol is the active ingredient in HEAT. It doesn't do what the government says it does, but it reduces/prevents gas line freeze...

    Which Distributor?

How much advance the motor likes depends on how good the combustion chamber and spark plug location is. I don't know about the Vic Jr. heads, but I would think modern heads with a good combustion chamber should like less than 34 degrees advance. I would expect 34 degrees with 60s or 70s iron...

    408 W EFI Setup

It depends on what you are doing with the motor and your degree of patience with learning and tinkering. If it's NA and you aren't going to be constantly upgrading the A9 Ford computer with a chip should work. I would recommend just paying someone to burn a chip for you if that is your path. If...

    Cork versus Rubber Valve Gaskets

Rubber gaskets last longer and seal better. Cork dries out, becomes hard over time, then cracks and crumbles. Rubber is also less likely to stick to parts and tear when you pull them apart multiple times. Rubber doesn't permanently deform like cork. Also rubber can be molded in complicated...

What is your opinion of the Dynacorn '67 fastback bodies?

I would do it. I'm in the middle of rust fixes with my '70, and "might as wells" are killing me. Unibody is a good way to build a car, but if there's rust it gets everywhere between panels. Spot welds just don't prevent water penetration after 40+ years. Between the floors and torque boxes...

Short cam life with new oils

There are a few details here. One is that a higher lift, performance cam will be harder on lobes than a factory cam. The high performance cam can use better lube. Another thing is that modern cams have more aggressive grinds than older cams did. Another factor that means you need better...

    5spd or auto?

I'd say auto vs manual is mostly a personal decision. It seems many people go with auto now-a-days, but we are a little more car crazy than most, huh? I'm thinking about keeping the automatic in my '70, but it's a convertible and the auto will help me drive in a more relaxed fashion. I'm...

    Differential lube.

Is the rear differential chattering around corners or dragging a tire in tight corners? If not, why bother? Some people purposely don't use the friction modifier so that the clutches will grip better. Without friction modifier the trac-loc will act as though it is shimmed tighter - it will be...

    Sputtering at high speeds.

I noticed that you didn't mention plugs/wires/cap/rotor condition. I have had vehicles with a miss-fire on the highway that was caused by worn ignition parts.

    Rear sway bar.

Yeah I wasn't originally trying to start a fight on here either, but some people seem to be really strong advocates of rear sway bars and seem to want to attack if anything negative is posted about rear sway bars. I think if your car understeers a lot and you want to improve the cornering...

    Rear sway bar.

I didn't read your post since it didn't start with, "oh yeah I guess I got it wrong." Some people shouldn't post in tech sections.

    Rear sway bar.

I assume this was directed at me. It doesn't take too much thought to respond in generalities like I did. I tried to keep it simple. Please think about your first statement more. The car when going around a corner wants to sway towards the outside of the corner, just like you do inside the car...

    Rear sway bar.

Yes a rear sway bar can cause undesirable handling (over steer). This can be very dangerous in a performance driving situation. Adding a rear sway bar adds to the roll stiffness in the rear, which makes the outer rear tire work harder and takes load off the inner rear tire in order to keep the...

    Gear ratio

The speedo reading depends on a few things, so I recommend you determine the actual rear diff ratio by marking the driveshaft and tire and counting the relative rotations. Then based on your tire diameter you can determine the correct speedometer gear to get the speedo more accurate.

    Thoughts on this MIG welder

Looks identical to the Hobart 140 I purchased about 8 years ago. I love mine. It works great for anything I've ever needed to weld. They say up to 1/4" steel with it. There's nothing on a Mustang body that is over 1/4", and most odd projects don't require metal heavier than 1/4". I've used it a...

    Odd chirping noise from bellhousing

It's either the throwout bearing or the input on the trans needs to be shimmed tighter. Did you replace the throw out bearing?

    Pepper in the radiator fix

I've heard of it just like I've heard of using ATF for purposes outside of the automatic transmission. I wouldn't use either, though. I would always buy a product designed specifically for what I'm trying to do especially when the product only costs a couple bucks. I like Barr's Leaks for...
