    5.7L was the most powerfull motor available, it made 245hp and 345tq with a 4spd auto and would run a high 14 quarter at best. Stock to stock they would have more torque, but have 50hp or so less.

    Exactly, you have to remember this car will only run on premium fuel anyway. It is designed from the start to be expensive to drive as well as buy. There is a reason why there are a million LX/GT mustangs, but only so few Cobra's. If they wern't expensive everyone would have one. :nice:

    How fast will these beasts be?

    From what I remember the Mustang Cobra's motor is closer to the motor used in pickups then to the Ford GT, but I forget which pickup exactly (be it a lightning or regular F series) Which would mean it would be less expensive to produce because it uses a lot of common high production parts.

    You really can't go by that, you have to see what the engine is rated at once finished. You can't guess as sometimes simple changes can create a huge difference. All you can say for sure is more than 450hp and less than 550hp.

    Technically the replacement for the Camaro is the GTO (a 4 seater with an LS1/LS2 like the Camaro), if GM wanted to they could throw the 427 from the 500hp Z06, call it a Judge, and it would be competition for the new Cobra.
