Questions on 15x8 wheels with 5" BS

I have 16x8 Telstars with 5.0" backspacing, and with 255/60/16 MT drag radials they'll be about perfect once I get the rear dropped a bit. Not sure how the section width differs with tires you're looking at

What a day... :( poor mustang

Weren't you looking to get into a hardtop of some kind anyway? Might be the time to find a clean 5-speed roller? Sorry to see your ride get wrecked. As others have said, that should be a pretty easy fix. If you like the 'vert, I'd probably pull everything off the front end, and get it on a...

Trick flow top end kit problems???

You need to find a diagram and be sure they are hooked up right. Cracked hoses are also NOT acceptable. The thing will never run right with vacuum leaks, or improperly routed vacuum lines.

Trick flow top end kit problems???

If the timing is actually at 20 degrees, you are likely way too high. Most don't like any more than 16* of timing, but every situation is different. Set it back to 10* (factory) and go from there. Check and be sure you have no vacuum leaks. With my current setup, it did run better as the...

    Best Cam

The TFS-1 cam would work well, and only costs about $150, unless they have gone up in price. Comp also offers some nice stuff; the XE-270HR would probably be a good one for you, (assuming you have a 5-speed) but is a little pricier.

    4 Lug Limitations

Put hardened wheel studs in the rear axles, and you shouldn't have to worry about ever shearing them off unless you are running spacers/adapters.

    Starting Issues

    Well, that settles that :D

    Starting Issues

The starter solenoid (mounted on your driver side inner fender) is the likely cause. You should have immediately unhooked the battery when it did this, you probably hurt your starter a bit because of this.

Popping ticking lifters after shutting engine off !

I've never heard/heard of a 'popping lifter' before. You sure the thing isn't just running hot and detonating once you turn it off?

Best crate engine for the money?

Most seem to agree that 500 rwhp is pushing the limits of the stock block; 450 rwhp is about as high as most want to go, but you aren't guaranteed anything even at those levels. There is nothing wrong with the stock rotating assembly; it's the block that gives out at higher power levels. It...

    AFR 165's or 185's??

That would make me just a little bit angry. So all of their heads come with just one heli-coil for one rocker stud huh? And people still make fun of me for buying edelbrocks.

    vibration

Sounds like you just have a little idle surge. The motor shakes when the rpm drops too low. Absolutely normal.

    Best Gears for C4 Tranny

With taller rear tires, and 3.55's, your will be cruising at around 3,000 rpm at 60-65 mph. Had them in my '65, and would not have gone any taller for the amount of highway driving I did with it.

    AFR 165's or 185's??

AFR 165's for a 302-306 c.i. based street motor hands down.

Last update before the BEAST fires up!!!

+1 I have friends that do the same thing, and it typically doesn't end well due to either A.) a bad tune/no tune B.) being in a big hurry and messing something up during assembly C.) being in a big hurry, and not noticing something that is obviously wrong and needs correction. Take your...

Headers rubbing up on steering shaft

If you need a little more clearance, you can always slip a washer(s) under the motor mount on whichever side is giving you trouble.

    Rebuild Question

I had my shortblock rebuilt for right around $850, but that was reusing the factory forged pistons. The motor I had rebuilt had 150K on it, and was obviously neglected, but there was no significant bore wear. Before ordering pistons, you may want to disassemble your engine, and have your block...
