Thought I should introduce myself/outline my plan/get your input

Hey, you know what "marine" stands for, right? Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential :D Oorah! The reserves are a bit of a different animal, though, since many of us are college students too- its an interesting combination. I've also known some damn good Gunnies (and my current...

New AFR 185 competitions tested at the track... New best 1/4 stats inside!

Wow, that's awesome, man! I really enjoyed reading the 5.0 MM story about your process. How much have you stripped from the stock 'vert weight?

Remote Start in factory key fob

The problem I see with this is: An aftermarket remote start system will have a box that controls everything- when it gets the signal (an encrypted, frequency-hopping RF signal) from the fob it does all the things it needs to start the car. You'd have to find a way to "trick" it into thinking...

    Anyone else fixing their annoyances?

I have this problem too! The wires are loose to the knob that controls brightness, usually I just flick it and they come back on. I'm about to rip it out and just solder the two wires together with a resistor (lower the brightness a litte) and say f*** being able to adjust the brightness...

Holy Tolstoy, batman! Kudos to anyone who actually makes it through all that... I'll throw this in too, why not, always good to have a visual:

Thought I should introduce myself/outline my plan/get your input

Hey all, So I've been lurking around the forums for a few months now, finally got around to making an account and contributing :D I'm Michael, 23, Computer Engineering student at Virginia Tech, and USMC Reserves out of Roanoke, VA. Got my 94' GT 'vert 5spd after I got back from the sandbox in...

Issues after intake swap (MPG & Stalling)

I just got your PM, thanks for the shout, expect to hear from me :D You don't happen to know a guy in roanoke -works at a fleet shop, I think- building a blown foxbody, do you? I bought his old street burner and he mentioned a guy in bedford that does tuning, can't imagine there's too many...

Issues after intake swap (MPG & Stalling)

Thanks for all the great advice, I'll be sure to go easy on the wrench tomorrow. I did use the felpro gasket set with the OEM rubber ends + dab of RTV, so far no leaks :D I ended up getting over 80 miles on that last 1/4 tank- a new personal best, and I've been doggin' it pretty hard...

    Radio/Electronics Specialists Needed

Adam can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the nature of FM signals would lead to simply getting a crappy signal due to interference. AM is where you would pick up engine noise (I've had this problem before)- it is a distinct whine tied directly to the engine RPMS. You'll have the same...

Anyone have a write-up on replacing a waterpump?

Rock on, good call. That bottom bastard almost tricked my into pulling the whole vib. damper off :rlaugh: It really doesn't seem like it'll come off without it when you're looking at it while its in the car.

    DTC 543

543 - "543 Fuel pump monitor circuit no power" Could be a lot of things. From what I've read around the 'tubes it sounds like its almost always a wiring issue (worn insulation, bad ground, melted wires). I'd start by inspecting the all wiring related to the fuel pump (and especially the FP...

Issues after intake swap (MPG & Stalling)

Alright- good news, and a lesson learned! Really REALLY check for vacuum leaks. They are the devil. The spawn of satan, I say! The TFS intake moved everything over to the driver's side by about 1/2 inch, the vacuum line going from the elbow to the FPR was getting pulled/stretch slightly...

Anyone have a write-up on replacing a waterpump?

I don't have a writeup, but I'm new to the mustang engines (was a Jeep man in a former life :D) and I was able to do my h20 pump with little problems. I'd say with a haynes/chiltons in hand it is a very simple job with no special tools required. From what I can remember off the top of my head...

    Radio/Electronics Specialists Needed

Truth be told, I really don't enjoy the electrical side of my major as much- I'm really a low-level hardware kinda guy (love microprocessors and assembly things). Really diggin' on embedded systems :nice: Plenty of money to be had there to live (more than) comfortably too, and hey- gotta do...

    Anyone else fixing their annoyances?

    1. Fix the 1-3 levels on my HVAC blower :( Anyone know what is causing that? 2. Fix rear window (glass is separating from top... UGH) 3. Find/fix exhaust leak 4. Remove glue from dash (thanks, previous owner...) 5. Find 200HP- polkageek said that counted as an annoyance :D

    Radio/Electronics Specialists Needed

I think that the woven insulators are intended to work like a Faraday cage (Faraday Cage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), but must be connected- that is to say, when it was cut and "woven" back together the original pathways were broken, thus ruining its anti-interference powers. The reason...

    Noise inside intake at idle

If it sounds like a ball-pin hammer banging on metal making a "ping" sound, that would be what it is: Pinging. Check your timing, it is probably too advanced, or switch to a higher octane fuel (premium instead of regular). From wikipedia:
